I think it's just the angle that the pic was taken... I was favoring the drivers side a bit

I wanted a double DIN with a backup camera, Carplay etc. at first...but I really just needed Bluetooth streaming, hands-free and some decent speakers. I also had to save some $ somewhere in the build process before the wife killed me! Here is what I ended up doing:

I have this single Jensen. I put it in about 9 years ago. It plays DVDs while driving, which was really nice when my kids were small.

One of the first things i did to my ‘05 was switch out the OEM radio and speakers. Ive ran this pioneer for the last year, and it was awesome, no complaints!

Very interesting they sell the modification kit for thr 1997-2003 for only an extra 65 bucks or so.
It's not like I haven't tried the aftermarket stereo thing...last one got stolen, and I replaced it with a stock am/fm. Great stereo sound just isn't a priority to me in a Jeep.Good thing you at least have a CDMine has a tape. I feel sorry for the idiots who try to steal a $100-$200 radio, lol. My mama says.. "life is a box of cho... kidding). If you are going to steal, steal millions and from the insurance companies or the banks

I have the same exact unit in my TJ. It is OK, but I am going to add an amp and subwoofer combo. I think that there are better options available at a similar price point.

Around town music is great but on the freeway the noise from my soft top cancels out the radio, CD or iPod.

I figured it does not need a high end unit (andoid or double din) because honestly, when am I going to watch a movie or use all the advanced features? I am definitely not going to do that while offroading, lol. Am I going to do that when I am driving across the states? Nope! I will driving my truck for those distances with the Jeep in tow, if I need it.
Got a really good deal on a JVC mechless single DIN for $50 and a set of 4 Pioneer speakers for $80. Here is the install in pictures:

May I ask where you found your stock radio?
I would like to replace the POs radio with stock
I'm picking up my first Wrangler, an '05 LJ in a few hours. It has the subwoofer in the center console. I'm planning on replacing the head unit and speakers with a JVC digital media receiver and marine Polk Audio speakers. Also planning on swapping out the subwoofer with the one Quadratec has. Any other recommendations? I accept the fact it won't be ideal, but I do like to have my SiriusXM. LOL
I put a 99 dollar Pioneer, blutooth capable, no CD. Came with Kenwoods in the dash and I added two more to the soundbar plus a pair of Kenwood 6x9's in boxes in the rear, augmented by a pioneer woofer. It came with one JBL amp and the woofer, I added a second pioneer amp to properly power the rest. I removed the back seat so space wasn't an issue. Cranks right up with not much invested in it. I use it for hands free phone. Insulated the floor and roof for heat, that improves the sound. It came with a functioning pioneer CD player, but who uses cds anymore? I am in the middle east and I don't worry about theft at all. I don't even lock the Jeep, ever. Arabs are not tolerant of thieves so that crap doesn't happen easily. A person caught stealing would surely go to jail and would be deported forever, after making restitution if they were not a local citizen. Local Emiratis would not belittle themselves by stealing. They value their good names.
That was some years back, not sure. So many on here talk about upgrading their stock unit...did you try placing a WTB in the for sale section? That is most likely where I found the one I got. Also, you could try daveysjeeps.com.
