If you're referring to the triangular shaped bracket that ties in to the roll bar anchor, yes, which is too bad, but in speaking with Austin, the bracket that extends across the tailgate is very important for alleviating the stress on the hinges too. It spreads out the load, so that is a key part of the design too.

So in summary, you can order just the HD wide-swing hinges, which mount to the stock bolt locations. Then, if you so desire later, to accommodate a larger, heavier tire, you can order the rest of the reinforcement plates, one for the tailgate, and one for behind the hinges, along with the triangular brackets, to beef up the whole system. You would need to call MORryde to order the system that way...

Ok. I'll let you know how the hinges only experiment goes. Hopefully they will get here soon. Until then I think I'm going to remove the spare just to alleviate some of the stress on the spot welds.

I just installed the Morryde kit on my TJ. The instructions are pretty terrible but was able to get it on. My question is what do the offset brackets do?

So I got my wheels and tires today (33x12.5x15) and also needed to install the offset brackets. Does have anyone have pics on how they installed the brackets and the rubber stops with spacers? I cant get the wheel resting on the bumper. Its either too low or propped up. I have a backspace of 3.65 and the wheels arent anywhere near touching the rubber stops in the original factory location.

There is another thread where someone showed pictures where they have a wheel with smaller back spacing, they added additional spacers to get it snug.

I too have a 33 x 12.5 x 15 tire and have some spacing issues between the snubbers and the tire. I purchased the Exogate from gr8tops and Matt at gr8tops offers 3/8” spacers you can request via email. I purchased longer stainless bolts today. I believe the tire should sit propped up and not resting on the bumper. The offset bracket may need to be moved right or left if I remember correctly, to center it close to the snubbers. I just went outside and got you some pics. Also, I’m not sure why, but you can see there’s more space between snubber and tire on the driver side compared to the passenger side.

I used some PVC pipe and cut it to the space needed, painted it black and then got longer bolts to make sure it was snug on my old Jeep

Thanks, it looks like you have the factory snubber, then the PVC pipe, then some spacers that came with the Exogate. Looks pretty good. Appreciate that.

Yep exactly, the bottom it was closer so just exogate snubbed and pvc. And yeah white I think is difficult, the black can become overbearing. It looked good with it white! I gotta buy a new one soon. The black shouldn’t look bad with your red.

Curious what bumpers you guys are running and if you have a body lift. 33’s with 1 inch body lift and an EAG rear bumper and I didn’t need the offset bracket. Not installing the bracket means less issues getting the snubbers to fit to the tire.

That's pretty much what mine looks like right now. I used the stock tire carrier and have 3.62 backspacing on my rims. I ordered another set of rubber snubbers and plan to cut them placing them in between the spacer and OEM snubbers. I liked the idea of using rubber.

@tomtaylz, can I ask where you got the longer bolts? I dont remember whether I used the 1/4-20 or m6-1 sized bolts but will need about a 3 - 3.5 inch long bolt.

Stock bumper, no body lift, 33s just a tad too big to fit without the offset bracket. Snubbers with spacers fits perfectly with stock rims and 33x10.5s KO2s.

Did the hinges ever arrive?

Yeah, they did arrive on Monday. I barely got into the box and unwrapped one of the hinges. When I get some time I want to pull out the tape measure and put it next to the hinges so you can see the dimensions. They look great,. Packaging was well done. No way they would get scratched up during delivery. I bought them from Retrofit Offroad for $145.99, free s/h. They are definitely stout, but I presume borderline for full support of a 33x12.5 tire for many years. I hope to get them put on this weekend, but other honey-do home projects are coming up. Nevertheless, I think it's important to get this done, so I'll carve out the time...I need an extra snubber and some extensions. I think I'll try the fuel filler idea and cut it to fit.
