Wish I would have looked that up before I did mine. I wasn’t even torquing very hard and got rained on when the entire sheet of glass shattered. I still to this day find chunks of glass in odd places.Very. From my research it's only 53 in/lbs. I may just hand tighten them with blue loctite
Can anyone tell me how to start a thread?
I am fairly certain both u-joints in my front axle shafts are toast. The last week or so I have been experiencing a strong wobble in the steering. At first I thought a balance issue, but it is very intermittent and I can seem to produce it at 40-45 on long sweeping curves. A couple of Spicer 5-760x u-joints are on their way.
Is that the OEM shaft U joint numbers? I'm thinking I may replace mine since it's a cheap part cost.
Looks like its structurally OK. You still have some low spots there...Fill with bondo before you paint. They will stick out like a sore thumb otherwise. Have you come up with a way to "grain" the repair or are you not going to worry about it?So this is FAR from perfect. I've never done body work before and I think I laid this on a little to thick. However, with that said, it's smooth for the most part and everything is holding together on it's own. I think with a fresh coat of paint it will not be noticeable to most. For a free top I'm happy with the outcome. So far I have $375 into it. $250 of that was for the rear glass.

Tech Era Fiber Carbon seat heaters. Why haven't I installed these years ago? Maybe my new favorite mod.
I installed them right on top of the seat and reinstalled my bestop seat covers over them.

These are on my must have list!
Great build evolution. Some real bummers along the way, like hitting the locker switch at 30-40mph. But some victories as well, like the patient process of installing new gears. Reads like the Jeep life.
Great looking PS fenders by the way. Love the color match. What are you planning for the rear flares, if anything?
Curious why you went with the more gutsy ‘cutting of the hood’ for PS over a simpler MCloak. Clearly you like other MC products. I’m sorting through the clearances. Thanks! Id like to install the matching corner armor and flares in the aluminum version. I saw a post where someone had installed the cheaper EAG flares from Ebay and it was a damn close match to their front PS fenders.
I do plan to pull the fronts again and repaint, the passenger side did not take well and is peeling/rusting in various locations.
