FIL has a JKU unlimited with open diffs, 35s, 3 inch lift?, no winch, automatic, everything else stock. He has lots of experience offroad. @JMT wheeled with him and can confirm he is up to the task.
It is doable, it helps if you have a lift and 33” or 35” so you can air down for better traction without getting hung up.
I have a 4" lift, 35" tires, 4.88 gears with stock axles and brakes. The stock brakes worry me.
I ran an open Dana 30 w/4.11’s and O.E. Brakes in front and a Dana 44 w/LSD and drums in back. I did have 4:1, 35’s, and 4.5” of lift

That I will do. There's a place down here that sells some amazing beef jerky.
FIL is hardcore, adventurous type. In addition to the 3” lift and 35’s I believe he has LSD front and rear. I wouldn’t worry about him. He’s gutsy
