Midnight LJR Build

Makes no difference. A bear can peel open a hard tonneau just as easy as they can pry open a car door.

Yup, probably better off with the soft cover in regards to bears. It’s getting in either way if it wants in, and there will be less total damage afterwords.

That’s a valid point. Although the hard top is more appealing for keeping out 2 legged “predators”.

I typically keep the cooler in the Jeep. The hard top sits a bit higher so I might just make sure the rack is high enough so that I have the option in the future.

I am very excited the tent gets dropped off tomorrow!

I threw together a mount for my tubing bender and nother yesterday out of a bunch of scrap metal so will start making more progress on the rack today.

Might have missed it, what tent are you getting?

Tuff Stuff Alpha my wife picked it out. It was her birthday present.

That will be a great setup!

Yeah hoping I can get everything set up now for a trip I have September 16th.

Still need to figure out Hennessy pass, depends when I go pick up the tent. It’s starting to look like that weekend would be the third weekend away from home due to the canopy delays which might not work

Yes, the Jeep already has the tub rails installed as well as the Savvy taillights.

Will it still work with those taillights?
Will what still work with the tail lights? If you are talking about the Exogate, yes it can work with the tail lights. It does not work with the tub rails. They have to be shortened and a new tab made for the end. If you aren't painting them, that has to be done by someone who welds stainless with stainless rod and then finished out. I weld it with regular Mig and finish them if they are going to be painted. I don't if they are left bare.

Yes, I was referring to the Exogate.

The tub rails on it are not painted and I had intended on just having them powder coated black, but I can do that at any point.

@mrblaine when ordering the aluminum corner armor from savvy do you need to request the hinges don't get cut out? The website isn't exactly clear on how they ship.

"Savvy Aluminum Full Corner Armor for 1997-2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ. Stock lights and flare compatible. Our corners cover the complete corner. No cutouts around the tailgate hinge, just a cut out for the tailgate hinge. Includes all hardware and nutserts. The optional 3/8″ tub reinforcement backing plate will make the tub even stronger. Comes with No nutsert install tool."
