Picking up where I left off

Awesome that it is there. Had you already started with the audio install on the other TJ?

Other than the work you're going to have Blaine do to it what else are you going to do?

Nope, fortunately I didn’t start the audio install on the other one.

Other than what Blaine is doing, the only big plan I have is a stroker engine at some point.

Trektop, that sucks (I have one on my TJ). Are you going to swap tops with the silver one?

Yep, that’s the plan 👍

TJ-6 FTW!

That would be awesome.

I spent most of the day doing a comparison test between my bone stock 2006 Rubicon and this 2003 Rubicon.

The 2006 Rubicon has no lift and is 100% stock with the exception of 265 C rated tires.

The 2003 is heavily modified and has 35" Nitto M/T tires on TrailReady beadlock wheels.

The 2006 has the NSG370, and my 2003 has the NV3550.

I drove them both back-to-back, both at speeds up to 80 MPH on the highway for sustained periods of time, and both during stop-and-go in city driving.

I've come to the conclusion after having done this test that even with all of the modifications done to the 2003 (including the mid-arm, wheels, tires, etc.), it handles just as good, if not better than my bone stock 2006.

The only place where I felt any discernible difference was at higher speeds on the highway, where the wind (it was a very windy day) wants to go under the 2003 (being as though it's so tall) and sort of push you around, versus on the bone stock 2006, it does a bit better since it's much lower.

Of course the 2003 is a bit more sluggish off the line due to the heavier wheels and tires, but that is to be expected.

At one point I took them both through some pretty fast corners, and I can honestly say that the 2003 has no more body roll than the stock TJ, not that I picked up on at least. In fact, at one point I was whipping the back ends around as best I could, and I actually felt more planted in the modified Rubicon as oppose to the stock one.

Keep in mind that I currently do not have outboard shocks, just the Savvy tuned Fox shocks. It would be interesting to see what difference the outboards make.

I can now honestly say with a real comparison test that I'm 100% confident that the Savvy mid-arm does not affect on-road driving performance whatsoever. In fact, one might argue that it makes it even better.

I'm very, very impressed with the way this thing performs on-road, especially when pitted against a bone stock TJ.

The question is, how much more will I like it with the outboard shocks and PSC setup?

There is no such thing as savvy tuned fox shocks if they bolt in to the stock mounts.

I have purchased those very shocks in the past. I had some questions for savvy when they shipped from Kentucky from a parts warehouse. At the time I was told they were stocked across the US but we’re in fact tuned for savvy.

Well I now know the person who told me that BS on a personal level and yeah.... they are just off the shelf fox shocks.

Oh really? So Savvy is just straight up false advertising? Wow!

I honestly didn’t know that. That’s kind of shady.

If you really read the description, they never say these are custom tuned shocks. Just that they offer a variety of custom tuned shocks. If you purchase smoothies they will(or can be) tuned to tj spec.

You're right, that text is a little misleading. Of course I've also heard that IFPs can be tuned, it's just that you don't have that much to work with as far as the IFPs go.

I've always seen people refer to these as the "Savvy tuned Fox shocks", I guess I know better now.

Me too and that’s why I bought them. But if they really were tuned for savvy why did they drop ship them to me from the Midwest? It would be one thing if they drop shipped from fox but they didn’t... they also hurt my back on long rides so I really started questioning if these were anything special.

Also they use the exact same description on the smoothie shocks. At this point I think they just need to change that description.... but when I ordered them on the phone with savvy, I was told they were custom valved.

You're right, I'm with you on this one. I can't see why they would have dropped ship them if they were tuned specifically for Savvy.

I have nothing to compare these too right now except stock suspension on my other TJ. I'm sure I'll like my 2.0 smooth bodies with the LSC much better once they are installed.

You will be impressed.
