School me on fuel cells

actually a wider JK Rubi axle. and the outside of my frame is now even with the body seam in the wheel wells.
like he says , IDK why i didn't see that b4 i commented.

Seems like you'd be fine with a smaller tank - it would definitely be my preference to leave it under the Jeep. It's usually no big deal to throw a few gas cans in the back if you're worried about it. Or even better just leave 20 gallons on the trailer.

He did a back half on his TJ and I don't know of a tank that works with that without some serious mods but there might be,
A custom aluminum tank built his way through one of the custom
Tank builders.

So I should have said a Off the Shelf tank that is produced. For the amount of fuel he want wouldn't a RCI or other cell work that he could recess into the floor behind the back seat?
Sure. Im just not a fan of having to fuel in the tub. Bit it aint my Jeep. Lots of solutions out there that could keep it under the tub.
i've considered dropping it through the floor some, getting it lower would make a remote fill tube easier to place.
if i had a local i could afford i'd go for just about any design i could keep underneath, but i really cant see it and it'd be the oddest shaped cell ever built.
i think inside is ok if done right. part of that is a quality vessel (RCI would not be 1st choice for me), another part is fuel slosh control. slosh control is gonna ensure long life and less mess.
here's a pic from a preliminary set up, the axle has since come forward about 1.5". still not enough room for any type of tank behind it.

You have WAY less room than I have back there. I'm still just looking at getting the 20 gallon fuel cell from GR and going with it. But I'll do some measuring and see if I can fit a GR tank under mine before I pull the trigger one way or the other.
during all procrastination over the fuel cell and email contacts to Boyd to see if i could get a tank built, i stumbled over this.
it appears to measure very similar to my OE tank parts, and if it what it might be, it's considerably less than another similar product option. it has a bolt on option.
for me i'm stuck waiting or buying off the shelf and mod'ing my own. they are so backed up with cells they are not taking new custom orders until mid January at the earliest.

Nice find! That's way cheaper than Genrights and even comparable in cost to Motobuilt's messy to use clamping ring. It appears to be 97-04, I wonder if they'll make one for 05-current (which is the only pump I'd use on a custom fuel cell due to future availability)?

ya shoot me the info, plz......i'd at least try and get them a drawing and ask for a quote. i'm not trying to spend a grand on a tank but would spend a bit more to have the right tank.
i'm getting tired of looking and am to the point that i need a tank soon. i don't want a big vessel, just 10-12 gl, something i can sink into the floor a couple inches and cover,

that pump ring from boydwelding is on sale 97$ for the bolt on and IIRC 69$ for the weld on.

rings here. and confirmed it fits the pump assy from my 04. with the factory rubber seal and ring.
came with all the pieces needed to install, allen head screws, that sink flush with the flange, rubber gasket (not cork) and rivnuts in the inner ring.

I know it's a little late for you @someguysjeep but maybe this will be useful for someone down the road.
Excited to see this project moving forward. It’s been in the works for a while.
Hopefully they will offer an aluminum skid to go along with it. For some reason, Dan does not have a whole lot of aluminum offerings when it comes to armor and skids...
