05 Flame Red TJ Build

@starkey480 suggested I bump the pinion up 1* over the driveshaft. I made those adjustments today. Pinion at 10.1 and driveshaft at 9.2. Vibes are almost dialed out. I got up to 74mph before I thought I might be feeling some vibes. I may have a few more adjustments to make, but I think I can get this solved without another $$$ dump. Then I can focus on the XJ and tire size for the TJ. Goin' to 35's, yes or no? I don't know yet.

I also took a look at my MML (Motor Mount Lift) in relation to the bracket on the passenger side. I have @mrblaine to thank for pointing that out a long time ago, but it just came back to mind and I thought to take a look. It looked like it was clearing, but it was very close and looked like it had touched and rubbed some. I worked an angle grinder and cut off wheel up over the lower control arm and trimmed some for additional clearance. There are less vibes in the cab overall, and the rig is running smoother overall for sure. Every little bit makes a difference as the nuances are worked out.

I have 3.5, 1.25 and metalcloak fenders that I’m told do nothing. Love my 35’s.

A few folks up here told me to go with MC. I could, but for the price I could do GR HiLines and just put in the work. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always loved the look of MC’s. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but I think they look awesome. I think @Wildman is going that way.

Yes I am front and rear. But I went with steel because they didn't offer the stretch rears in aluminum. I wanted tire coverage but not the wide flare when I'm up wheeling.

I’m still searching your build thread. Would hilining MC’s give you any more clearance back, or just up?

I've always liked the CrawlTech highlines, but I don't know how they'd look with 35's. Genrights are always a good bet, especially if you get the aluminum version.

You'll want more travel (like I currently do) but I'm on 35s on an OME 2.5+1.25BL set-up and MCE fenders. Bumped at 1 5/8" in the front, 2" in the rear

What are you thinking when you say You’re not sure how they’d look with 35’s? Are you thinking the wheel well might be too big for that size tire? Al if I get Genright’s for sure. Those CrawlTech’s do look awesome

Thanks for that. It looks like too much work to modify the MC’s, unless you really need removable outer flares Like @Wildman. Easier to just get some HiLine’s.

Hmm...that’s not much bump for that setup. I have 2” front and 2” rear right now with 3” + 1.25” and 33’s, and my front driver got into the flare a couple of months ago. I thought I checked at full bump, it looks like it barely touched, but it was enough to bend the seam.

What are you going to do to get more travel? Raised Coil spring mounts? Raised shock mounts?

I’ve only ever seen the crawltechs with bigger tires. I don’t have a very good eye but I think it could possibly look odd with smaller tires. Not really sure though.
