Collins Bros is the biggest rip off artist dealer when it comes to Jeeps. They have some very nice stuff from time to time, but they put the price high and wait months for someone who doesn't know any better to come along and buy it.

That Jeep is probably 1 of 38 with the Rubicon package, that specific color, options, etc... It isn't very special. You see exotic car dealers talk about 1 of x a lot, but they only mean that there are only x examples EXACTLY like this one.

Exactly, like I have a one of one car, and @Chris used to have a one of five...

This Collins shop is damn overpriced. A couple low mileage LJs (non-Rubicons) for $30k. WTF!!!!

Collins always has stupid high prices, yet somehow they sell, so I guess to someone they must be worth it. Never in a million years would I pay that.

I also have no idea how they came up with 1 of 38. They made way more than 38 black TJ Rubicons. He’s just trying to justify that stupid price.

I'm a diehard Capitalist. But, like the real estate market, it's flawed in that you'll likely find someone to pay the markup making it an inflated market.

It's one thing to mark up a product to make a profit, but it's another thing to charge 2x to 3x more because they THINK they give the Buyer a false sense that Collins is better than everyone else....but like in real estate, there is a sucker born every minute.

Enthusiast Auto Group. I’m into older Bimmers, M3s & M5s. This place sells them at incredible prices. Granted they’re all in fine shape, but you’ll pay a 10-20k premium there vs buying them on the open market. Dunno why you’d buy there, but they somehow do enough business to stay in business, just like Collins.

Yes, tons of places like this, Hennessey Performance is another. They charge $5k just for their badges, and people pay it.

It's a completely different market he's after. Most of the people that buy from him are looking for the $$$ treatment and service which he can offer.

It does have basically no miles so that certainly add some value. That would be about the new price assuming dollar value for 06 to now. Also the way these things work that is his asking price. Someone will come in offer him $35k, he'll take it and the person will think they made a great deal.

Only thing about the whole ad I don't like is that 1 in 38... That really leaves a sour taste in my mouth as the price ok.. but that is just a complete sales BS. I'm sure my Canadian Black LJ Rubicon 6 Speed with Hardtop, AC, electric compass, block heater, subwoofer, etc is a 1 of 4 or less...

Really no different than a 1 of whatever for a classic 60s mustang or camaro? It's based on the build sheet from the factory. There's just a lot more frivolous options and upgrades these days that can make an everyday vehicle a one off.

True and guess the TJ is starting to hit classic status (at least up here in Canada on the East coast) you just don't see them in normal use anymore. I've seen a few nicer ones sell for double the price from what they were 2-3 years ago.

That’s what I’m saying. A double edged sword for me.
