"Pacing myself" build

I'm tired of filling my build thread with talk of vibrations, so I'm throwing in the towel for now. I've made several adjustments lowering the t-case skid 1/4" at a time down to 3/4", adjusting the pinion as I go. I got the drive shaft angle down to 13* and played with different pinion angles from -2.5* down to 2*up and everything in between. I get little to no improvements. The vibes kick in audible around 50. They are rhythmic getting stronger for 5 seconds, then calmer for 5 seconds. At 65 they become felt in the seat and less rhythmic. The only thing left I haven't replaced is the t-case, transmission, and engine. I had a short conversation with Blaine about it, and short of shipping the jeep to him, the t-case is the last piece of the puzzle to look in to. When this Covid shit calms down, I'll hit up @Alex01 and @Lonewolf for a t-case swap to exhaust that avenue. I mentioned this way back in my other vibe thread, but when I originally regeared 2 years ago, I only had time to gear the rear end at the time, so I drove it home with the front drive shaft attached, in 2wd of course. That is when I encountered bad vibes above 50. I drove home 12 miles, then drove back to work the next day 12 miles and promptly removed the front ds. No vibes after removing the front ds. The next week, I regeared the front, but the vibes came back when I put the front ds in. This is when I started down the rabbit hole, thinking it was the front drive shaft. This leaves the possibility that I could have damaged something in the t-case that was overlooked when I had it rebuilt/SYE.

In other jeep news, my water pump is giving me hints that it is going to puke its guts out at the least opportunistic moment soon, so I have a new Mopar unit in stock. Might make it an all day'er and change that whistling intake gasket at the same time. Fun times!

I feel for you, I hope the cure is with a new TC because it doesn't make any sense to have vibes with all the changes you have made. my tera-low case is also available too if you want to crawl slower, it has an Adam's shaft that goes with.

Thank you kind sir! Yeah, it boggles the mind. I've literally have replace everything (some things more than once), except the t-case and the transmission.

I just hope that you can finally figure it out at some point. I know how much it SUCKS to own something you don't like to use anymore due to a defect that you can't figure out.

I am going bet money that it is not the t-case. You should strongly consider sending it to Blaine and have him do some magic if he can.

I have been driving with my front ds out for a bunch of weeks now and I still feel some sort of a vibration in the seat at 65+. It's not the rhythmic harmonic demon vibe but there is still something there, not sure if it's pinion angle related or something else .. it's not severe or anything so I have been just ignoring it. Last week I went and got my wheels/tires rotated and balanced and that seems to have helped somewhat.

I am still waiting for my new steel wheels to come in, so after I get the hub kit installed locally I am going to pay a visit to Dave's shop and have him look at everything again. I don't know what else has been damaged with the other vibe, hoping some small adjustment will even things out later. I just bloody want to be done mechanically with my heep, ya know?

What made you go with steel wheels out of curiosity? Is it because it’s easier to find stew ones with the right backspace for the hub kit?
