Did you use a rusty metal primer first or just straight top coat it? I’m considering ways to paint my axles.
I use a wire wheel and flap disc to de-scale, but blasting it with media is a good way to go as well. Once I've done this, it gets wiped down with lacquer thinner and lint free rag. Rust reformer is applied to any rust. This is followed up with a self etching primer, then it's painted. Sounds like a lot, but the whole process for the front took about 3.5 hours.

FWIW, rattle cans are used for the process. I usually pick these up at the local Walmart for around $6 a can, but here are links to the products on Amazon

Removed the interior front seats and carpet, in preparation for the BedRug install. As usual, the project became a giant snowball. The parking brake bracket was a little rusted, as were the seat bases. Everything was disassembled, rust treated, and re-painted. I had a set of two Rocky Mountain Edition front seats, so one of those got installed on the refurbished seat base this weekend. The other one still needs to be swapped over.

To my surprise, when I opened up the BedRug box for the front install, it had part of a used rear BedTred set in the box. Apparently, someone swapped out the parts and returned them. I contacted the vendor I purchased them from and they agreed to send me out a new set.

Sorted out the last suspension details, minus the shocks, this evening.

- 4 Wheel Parts is taking the older style Currie front track bar I ordered back and sending me the latest version. They even called RockJock to confirm the updated part

- Placed an order with Savvy for a complete set of aluminum control arms

- Placed an order with PolyPerformance for a manual SwayLoc

The parts are piling up at this point and I'm hoping to dig in seriously over the next few weeks for installing them. This build is without a doubt overkill for 31" tires. However, the goal, along with keeping to the build title, is to have a killer driving and handling Jeep. One that is built to grow, and assembled with no regrets.

Very interested to hear what you think of the sway lock. Also how much it weighs vs the stock bar in keeping with the light and nimble theme.

I went back and fourth on this one, between the SwayLoc (Manual) and AntiRock. The price difference between the two was approximately $180. I picked the SwayLoc because, unlike the LJ, this Jeep will be my daily driver and I do want to maintain the factory swaybar "nimble" feeling when cornering. Also, the posting @Mr. Bills did provided some good insight btween the three options.

Ahhh, that explains it. He's blocked me stemming from hurt feelings in the political section. Too bad, I'd be real interested to hear what he has to say on the subject. Well, I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it when you get it installed. The price difference isn't that big of a deal on my mind if I'd already be spending that much on an anti-rock anyways. I'm fairly confident it would perform well off road, but it's handling characteristics on road are my question.

If you haven't seen this, given your "spirited" driving style, you may want to take a look.
