I like my steel Rock Hard 4x4 front bumper. I don't know what kind of steel it is made from but I don't care. Knowing that it is genuine steel is good enough for me.

Correct. But my odds are good because Rock Hard 4x4 advertised it as 3/16" steel, a magnet sticks to it, and it doesn't appear to be pure iron.

Do you have any idea of how many steel and iron alloys there are? If you think aluminum alloys are confusing, take a peek at steel alloys. What some have done by referring to aluminum generically is tame compared to what we do when we call it steel because a magnet sticks to it.

Hard to answer that without comparing the two from a emgineers point of view.
(not me) The Savvy weighs the same as the stock front bumper if that tells you anything. 7lbs, If I recall correctly.

Most wont spend the kind of coin the Savvy cost unless they are really committed to this hobby which is fine, there are lots of bumpers out there.

Would have imagined the stock front bumper to weigh more than that with it being steel n all?

Look closer at the front bumper. Very thin stamped sheet metal with plastic end caps.

I'm going with Barnes 4wd bumper local to me not that heavy, rear matches and looks good in my eyes. I don't think that I would utilize the benefits of the aluminum other than weight savings, just cant justify the cost for just weight savings for the purpose my Jeep will serve.

Thanks, but it looks like it’s not much cheaper than the Savvy. If I’m spending that much I may as well just spring for it considering everything mentioned about it.

The UCF is a true 6061-T6 design and it's 1/3 cheaper by my ciphering, Savvy is a stubby and a very nice bumper and the UCF is a wider one for the guy who doesn't go on rocks and would like more room to put bobbles on his bumper, i.e. lights, hooks, winch guard, but all can be added to the Savvy as well. The Savvy would be my choice if I was coming from OEM to an aluminum bumper.

That’s what’s disappointing. I admitted I was wrong after all the info was brought forward, which also is how we learn and a bunch of others learned as well. I appreciate his knowledge but also feel questioning opinions at times may yield a better idea or solution. He’s a smart guy and guides us all a ton... but to keep ribbing people eventually someone is going to have enough and pitch some shitty comments back to him.

Why did you keep questioning him after he gave you what you needed to dispute GR and what can and can't be done with 6061-T6 in post number 116. Did you read any of the info in the 2 links he provided?
