What did you do to your TJ today?

Yesterday had a great time at Bellmore State Forrest. Two buddies came along, they have JKs but I try not to hold that against them.

In preparation of getting ready for Sound Shield sound deadening treatment, I am taking care of some small rust issues on the floorboards.

Once the sound deadener is applied to the floors and lower portion of the firewall, bedrug carpet will be installed. This fix will last for years with the rust treatment, new floor plugs, sound deadener and bedrug. hooray for a quieter jeep!

That and I replaced the clicking rear sway bar end links. Today was a good day to wrench on my jeep. Wrenching, when all goes well is therapeutic!

Today has been a great day to be outside. 63 degrees and sunny.

Several things to the TJ this week. Wife was out of town, so I took the time to do some things I have had planned.

Replaced the factory rear bumper and trailer hitch with a new EAG bumper that I got for my anniversary back in February.

Restored the air intake back to factory with one I purchased on Ebay.

Earlier this week, the check engine light came on with code P0456. Further inspection today found a cracked hose on the emissions canister. I ordered a replacement, but in the meantime, I taped it up with some electrical tape.

Last, but not least, I gave the TJ a bath and shined it up. The weather is great, but the pollen is terrible. Luckily, pollen doesn't show up too bad on a yellow jeep. :)

Mine doesn't seem noisy enough to need sound deadener, whats causing the noise tires or just bad roads?

Installed the Q-tec LED tail lights and Teraflex CB antenna mount and ran the coax for the CB antenna.
Went a lot easier than I thought it would, PO installed a flat tow harness but they wired the diodes on the tail light side of the harness instead of the harness side. Now I need to spend another day crawling around under there removing the rest of the flat tow harness.
I bought a Breedlove quick disconnect for the antenna but the bolt on the one I got was too big to use with the FireStick fire ring coax I bought

Today I installed the rear half of my 2.5 inch lift the shock and the springs, i can do the sway bars adn the contorl arms and the trackb bar separately, It was a pain to try and remove the track bar and then relocate it to fit the screws in again so i ended up having to use compressors on the drivers side but the passanger side was fine.

I'm hopeing the front will be easier, i tested all the bolts nothing is seized on or broke so im good in that respect.

Im only running ATs but, Id say a mixture of tires, bad roads and the echo chamber that is the factory hard top. Im hard of hearing already and cant hear the stereo very well. I added sound treatment to the doors already and it made a difference!

Prepped the rear driver's of the frame to reweld one of the body mounts. After flattening the POs lovely weld job and etch-weld-through priming I am letting it all dry to get it burned in tomorrow. Luckily I ordered a torque box repair section and lord and behold, I needed it lol

today I retired my factory flares for a new set of the same, rig looks a ton better. But, that wasn't the most interesting thing that happened in my driveway, see below:

my daughter & son-in-law came home for a weekend visit in their new Rebel, this thing is a beast:

I crawled underneath, the differential looks bigger than my Dana 30 & Dana 35 combined, massive. The driveshaft looks like a tree trunk, & it came out of the factory with a rear locker. Sweet rig, though the dash appears to have 50lbs of Microsoft crap affixed thereto, so it's a bit scary in that regard, but what a sweet ride

I like the Atoto A6 Pro head unit I installed last year, and the Kicker speakers are great. But, I was lacking bottom end. The bass response flat out sucked. Enter the Sound Storm Labs LOPRO8 amplified subwoofer. Installation was pretty straightforward, I did opt to use a Recoil installation kit with OFC wiring. I haven't decided yet whether or not I will mount it up into the lower part of the rear seat, so for now it sits on the floor under it.
I can finally hear the kick drum and lower bass notes. It just makes the music fuller. I don't claim to have an audiophile's ear, but it's much, much better. I'm sure I'll need to dial it in a bit more, but I'm really happy with the results.

Over the past month I have replaced my old 4:88 gears with Revolution 5:13s, also did all (4) Axle shaft with Revolution chrome molly, replaced the Track Bar, Drag Link, and Tie Rods with Currie Correct Link and Track Bar with JJ’s (going to upgrade control arms this week with Currie double adjustables).

So I also bought a new soft top with doors from best top. What should have been a 3-4 hour job was about 6-7 hours.

I followed the directions to a T! First problem I ran into was the snaps on the top were not in line with the folding frame. Two were about a half inch off.

Second problem I ran into was per the directions, the rear window goes in last. After fucking with it for over an hour, not being able to zip it, I realized the zipper was sewn in backwards. The fabric side lines up with the teeth on the opposite side.

I‘ll call Best Top on Monday and see what they say. Being in Colorado, I’m about three hours away. Hope there’s not attitudes, and they do the right thing ( I know of people who had issues in the past), I’m not in the mooooood! You Pay $1700 for a fucking soft top and two doors you expect the shit to work, not rocket science! 🤬🤬🤬🤬!

getting to old for some of this shit anymore 👍🍻!
