Hey guys i am looking to purchase the Savvy Mid Arm kit. Should i do the full suspension kit or just the upgrade. I already have bump stops, springs, shocks, etc. Should i upgrade those as well? I feel like the extra $1500 for the full kit is a bit much. Thanks in advance.

Got pics and condition of your current setup?

Which springs do you have currently? I believe the kit was designed around the Currie 4" but could be wrong.

I bought the kit with just the links but I already had the Currie springs and 1.25" BL

You have to decide what your budget and/or end goal is. If it's running 35" tires, you're probably going to have to look at starting from scratch.

Wait until we hit you with shock recommendations. 🤑

If those pics are current, the rear control arm looks like the old Rancho Rockcrawler kit arms. I only see them having been offered in 2.5 in lift.

Currently i have enough for the upgrade. Though i am able to do the full kit in 2 months if youre suggesting otherwise. I currently have Duratrac 33" tires on there and they still look small on my rig.

I'm listening.🤔

Looked it up, the control arm definitely is a Rancho kit.

If you really want the mid arm, you will be starting from the beginning. There isn't anything in that Rancho kit that will be reused.

Find our thread for the April Phoolz run in Buena Vista a couple weeks ago. Only two of us have mid arms. Are you looking to do bigger things than that?

If that big cargo rack stays on the Jeep, you don't need the mid arm.

Nothing bigger than that. Mainly the trails around here in CO like the Gulches, Holy Cross, maybe some obstacles at MOAB if possible. The rack is off, too.

Holy Cross is the very start of where the mid arm shows what it can do. Three of us ran up the first few hundred feet of Carnage recently. I was the only mid arm and I couldn't see a difference in how well we did getting that far.

I only bring this up because I installed the mid arm long before either the Jeep or I was doing anything that warranted it. I have spent the last four years building to match the suspension. Having been there, I strongly believe that an outboard should take priority over a mid arm.

Just got done reading

It states that i should do an outboard after other upgrades... so if i am having to start from scratch what should be my order of priorities for upgrades? I want to ensure i do this right. Thanks for the advice btw.

^this. The rear shock location seriously limits how much travel you can get.
I can personally vouch for this lol!!

Awesome to see you got your hands on a LJ.... Hope y'all are well!!

Do not outboard until you're happy with your belly height and lift. This is because raising the skid will affect the pinion angle and so would adding lift.

So if it was me before an outboard I would tuck the tummy and install 4" springs.

35s and everything to support that tire size. Raised skids. Rear spring relocation. Outboarded shocks. Mid arm.

This is more or less in order.

I think you should start with a solid short arm lift.
I looked at doing that as well i just didnt want to look back and regret not doing the MA. Do you think the SA would be sufficient in what my goals are for my rig?
