Abbreviated Savvy mid-arm kit questions

I appreciate that! My problem is my TJ is already a trailer queen. She is trailered everywhere. I’ve had her for three years now and have only put 1800 miles on it. 99% of it off road. I have not considered a overland trailer (yet). Most of what we do is a combo of crawling ( my kinda wheeling) and expedition style. That may be where a trailer is handy. I’m hoping in the next four years that my son either takes my TJ or builds a rig of his own ( with my help or maybe a completed or close to finished rig). Either way, it will free up some room and have two rigs on the trail. Cause if he takes mine, I’m going to find a LJ or stretch a TJ a little and build it a little different.

But three boys, a 80 pound dog and wanting to stay off the paved roads made the trailer a must have. But we don’t rock crawl the 4Runner. It gets used, but didn’t do hardcore stuff.

Was the best wheeling adventure we have ever done. No real destination. Just a topo map, IPAD with Gaia and the willingness to unplug.


Overlanding is a fun way to explore. But it’s not TJ friendly with a family.

Check out revkit. We may or may not have kept him and his wheeling partner (spouse?) from rolling two jeeps.

That is a great adventure. Lifetime memories. We tried to “overland” my fx4 but it was just not a “Jeep”. Hanna has become a integral part of our family. Her name is Hanna because I bought her on the third night of Hanukkah. It stuck.

keep that trailer as long as you can those are hard to replace.

I just view it differently. A TJ is a Jeep to me. The JK. JL, JT are not pure like I view a Jeep.


Our 4Runner is not a Jeep and I don’t want it to be.


I’d honestly love a new Bronco. It might happen. But it’s not a Jeep.


Well since you don’t want the trailer, I’ll keep it and use the hell out of it. Now that I’ll have a huge shop, I have the room and tools to do what needs to be done to keep the old stuff going.

A few weeks ago on Red Elephant. The RevKit guy asked for our help because he couldn't get the white JLU back on the road because he was pulling parallel to the road. But he got angry and wouldn't listen to us about how to do the rigging. So we stabilized the JLU and let him screw around for another 45 minutes letting the JLU fall deeper and deeper.

The moment he asked me for help again, I took over and did it the way we told him to with a pulley and a hard redirect nearly perpendicular to the road and got it done within 15 minutes.

But he got angry and wouldn't listen to us about how to do the rigging. So we stabilized the JLU and let him screw around for another 45 minutes letting the JLU fall deeper and deeper.

The moment he asked me for help again, I took over and did it the way we told him to with a pulley and a hard redirect nearly perpendicular to the road and got it done within 15 minutes.

What did you anchor too on the hillside? Doesnt look like there is much there.

Shawn was tied onto the back. Matt was the pulley anchor for the big black Jeep.

Isn't it interesting how some folks view help. Unless the Help is going to get you killed or rolled over go with it.

I think ego comes into play. We have a solution in mind and want it to work so badly we are blind to better options.

That is kinda like a shooter at the range who only hits the paper about half of the time and they want to call themselves expert shots… these are not 50% bullseye, it’s 50% on the paper at 15 yards…
