What did you do to your TJ today?

Finally think I got my hardtop hoist frame all setup today. Topless season is coming up soon for Ohio!

I tried to break the door hinge bolts loose with my Amazon wonder tool, aka manual impact driver. No luck, ratcheting impact wrench from lowest to highest setting didn’t move those bad boys a bit. Guess they I’ll get painted on the doors. Also, simplified and removed her a

As long as they don’t need adjustment, you need to paint them on the doors, that’s how the factory did them,I welded up the mirror holes,we run door off mirrors all the time

Which mirrors are those, I've been looking at getting a pair of door off mirrors and I like the quick disconnect ones like that. Also your jeep is beautiful, that's gotta be the best tj color

Received my "anchor point" I'm putting in the back of the garage so I can spool on line in my driveway. I needed to drill a pair of 1/2" holes in it. Well, I learned something new today! My little Harbor Freight drill press really isn't good for much over about 3/8" in heavy steel, although it did fine up to that point. So I broke out "Old Granddad", a huge 1/2" slow speed drill I inherited from my late father. That made short work of this job! Dad bought that drill, a "Thor", for $100 in about 1949, and it wasn't new then. Best I've been able to figure out, it was apparently made in the 30s sometime.

Love you rig, right now they both work fine. Drivers side could sit more flush, but I think that’s is due to the door seal. It is also really close to the windshield frame, but doesn’t rub. So long as the passenger door has no issues when the new deal comes in we will be good to go!

Found some rust flakes inside my frame. Trying to scrape it all out and power wash before treating it with some Eastwood internal frame coating. $30 a can and have to wait a week for shipping. I wish they sold something locally to stop rust and get inside the frame. :(

$30 a can, what the fuck? That has gone up dramatically, I pumped about 6 cans into my frame a couple years ago & I swear it was half that price.

Make sure you try your uppper door first too,if you heed to get the screws out jus heat the bolts with a torch, they have lock tight on them, get your locks rekeyed while they are out

The only thing I haven’t tried is heat at this point, after pounding on them with an impact, manual, and drill those suckers won’t budge. The uppers work, but I really had to slam the doors to get shut, the seals don’t sit just right. Honestly, I’ll probably sell the uppers as I’ll never use them.

I said the same thing. I used some on another Jeep and it was around $15 a few years back. I wish I could find something cheaper that would do the same thing. NO MORE MUD for me. I think that's what trapped the water inside the frame. I've been flushing, scraping and pulling out rust with a magnet and it's pretty clean now. I got about a "dime bag's" worth out. I guess that's $50 these days.

dime bag, hahaha, been a long time. I didn't have any chips or chunks to pull out but there was some rough spots to the touch, namely the driver's side from a few inches past the rear end side of the rear control arm mount to a few inches towards the front of it, I ended up making one of those frame pummelers with a chain on the end of a drill & shoved it in & beat everything to death & got it as smooth as possible, still not perfect, maybe consider doing the same. Shot Eastwood in until it was pouring out of the drain holes, stuff runs like water. I'm extra paranoid about internal frame rust so I've since gone over the entire frame inside with fluid film in case the paint cracks. I think I went a little overboard with it, every now & then I stick a finger in there & the goop feels about 1/16 inch deep

I've given up the mud, rinse, repeat life also, just not worthwhile to me anymore. At this point I think the only element my rig is battling is humidity in the summer, which I imagine can cause slow rot over time to exposed iron. Other than that it's not exposed to rain, snow, salt or water crossings.
