HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. easy option to resolve this for all you ppl. Thread lock plus extenders for the threads. Use spacers if you need to if the extenders thread is to long and keeps bumping. this is a very cheap fix

If you want to get super legit then remove the actual shafts from the tire carrier and put in some longer ones with spacers
i have an adapter I'll sell. I didn't use it on mine. The Hyline carrier with an adapter will do what you need.

Do you think the Hyline carrier will be enough to support a 285/70r17 Ko2 tire? If so. I might go that direction and return the Morryde tailgate reinforcement package I ordered.
I added the Hyline carrier to mine with a Morryde tailgate reinforcement. I had to lower the carrier by drilling new holes in it to clear the Morryde. The tire still cleared the bumper once lowered by an 1". Wanted the tire as low as possible for viewing out the back. The Hyline is heavy enough you for sure. Your week point becomes the tailgate. Jeep is now at the lake house i could post pictures this week if needed.
I'm going to suggest something entirely different. Since you have a stock bumper... Why not upgrade to a bumper/tire carrier combo? I recently purchased a DirtWorx rear bumper/tire carrier and am VERY happy with it. It has a high lift mount on it, plates to mount gas can carriers, built in tow hitch... It would solve all your problems and ensure you don't have any future issues bending your tailgate or damaging other parts due to increased weight and leverage.

Ah, that makes sense. Do you recommend mounting the Hyline to the Morryde just to be safe? Or do you think I could get away with just using the Highline without the Morryde? Thanks for all your help!
The morryde come with outset brackets to raise the own carrier. It will work without the highline. Either way you still need an adapter to jk lug pattern. I already had the hyline. But changed to jk wheels. Instead of the adapter/spacer I added new lugs in the jk pattern.

Got my spare on nice and secured. I ended up using the Morryde Tailgate Reinforcement kit and used the factory carrier combined with a Rough Country 5x4.5 to 5x5 1.5” wheel adapter.
For the snubbers I used the extensions that came with the Morryde kit but they were not long enough. I purchased a bunch of rubber washers from Lowe’s that are the exact same diameter as the Morryde spacers. These worked perfectly as each snubber hit a different part of the tire which made each snubber needing different lengths.
I also had to purchase longer bolts for the snubbers. I used two M6-1.0 70mm and one M6-1.0 90mm. If I could do it all over again I would have bought a 1” adapter instead of the 1.5”. This would allow the tire to sit closer to the Jeep and I wouldn’t of had to use as many washers.
