I'll have to get you numbers tomorrow or Saturday but here what they look like. I have the stem adapters for the fronts and then the bar pin eliminators for the bottoms. It's the rears I'm not sure yet how they would fit? And if I remember the information correctly they can be mounted either direction.

@Mike_H , I wonder how valid it would be to try the Rancho 9000xl. I’m thinking that may be the ticket. Anyone know why not?
Don't know. Here is the conundrum... And you've already alluded to it. The shocks you can buy for 150-200' ish a corner don't seem all that great. Definitely not worth the cost Delta between them and the 50 dollar a corner shocks. At least, my research hasn't turned anything up that is worth the upgrade. For me, I plan on outboards in a couple years. I have some other things to do first, but it's coming. My goal was to get buy for a couple years spending as little as possible.

Why spend 200 a corner for a shitty ride, when 350 gets you into a tunable shock?

I ordered some RockJock rear shock extensions (ce-9601), so I can try the Rancho’s in the rear. After I try that, I’ll move the Fox’s back to the front and try that combo.

You coulda just borrowed the set I have for your experiment since your mounts already have matching holes

I know, and I really appreciate it, I just didn’t want to be an Indian seller. It’s all good. I feel good about the possibilities of Fox’s up front and the Rancho’s in the rear. I have a better idea of what's going on now.

When are we building yours? I have all sorts of odds and ends!

OK got some numbers for ya.

Extended length is 26 7/8"
Collapsed length is 18" as close as I can tell.

And then the JKS pin eliminator is 1 11/16" as close as I can tell.

The bar pin eliminator on the bottom doesn't change the length but I figured I'd give you a picture of them.

JKS does make a bar pin eliminator for the rear upper mounts on a TJ.

I have 8 of these shocks so if you want them they are yours. The ones that came off my TJ would need to be rebuilt but the ones I got with the spare ORO AiRock kit are suppose to be ok. Last time I talked to Walker Evans it was $125-150 I think to rebuild them. You can also get remote reservoirs added to them if you want.

Just something to think about??? Am I adding to your rabbit hole?

EDIT: Forgot to ADD that of course this is all in the name of science. Just the facts ma'am JUST THE FACTS...

was that 125-150 per shock to rebuild?

Paul from Full Stack said he can rebuild & tune these shocks but it would cost more since they take special tools he doesn't have. So if you can use them or are interested I'd contact Walker Evens and see what they can do as far as tuning them.
I think it was another $100 or so to add the remote reservoirs but they had I think 9 positions to them?

Ok, I've been thinking about this, and looking at your numbers. If I subtract the collapsed length from the extended length I get 8 7/8" travel. That doesn't look proportionally correct in the picture of you holding the shock in post #3502, so I'm wondering if you can measure the shock shaft, including the rubber isolator on the shaft. These look like nice shocks and something I would like to try. I'm driving through Ellensberg area around Sept 4 with my wife for our anniversary. That would be a good time to pick them up, come home, and set them up.

Thanks, all in the name of...

Yep I'll go back and measure stuff again for you.

Looking at their chart I'd guess they have to be either a 10" or 11" travel and I'm guessing 10" travel.

I tried scaling the picture and I get 12” but my science could be off a little.😉

I really like the specs on the 10” travel shocks. This is a very interesting possibility. Aluminum body. Very nice.

I always felt they were too soft for my application but my TJ is about 5K lbs and with the air bags it just never felt right. I'd wished I'd gotten the remote reservoirs but ORO had said I didn't need them since it wasn't gunna be driven on the street as much.

So I'll measure the shaft for you and measure the lengths again.

I look forward to it.

Also, I need to correct something, these are steel shock bodies with Aluminum Billet design. They can be rebuilt and re-Valved!

Okay I hope this helps. There is 10" of shaft showing so I'll SWAG it in the Name Of Science and guess they are a 10" travel shock.

But it's still showing 27" from eye to eye which is an inch longer than their specs unless I am measuring it incorrectly which is possible since I'm such a HACK anyhow.

What am I missing? Why can't you trim the lower perch to fit the Ranchos?
The shock body is rubbing the axle, not the perch. I can't remember my rear pinion and Driveshaft angle's right now, but I think they are around 22*

I talked to @starkey480, who is running the Rancho's in the rear, and he had to use extensions too.

I have a set arriving on Saturday. I'll install the Rancho's on the rear and drive it with Rancho's front and rear, then put the Fox's up front and see which setup I like the best. I'll have tried all the combinations then.

I remember the dents I had in my shocks on the rear of my TJ when I still had coil springs. I hope you can get it figured out.
