Abbreviated Savvy mid-arm kit questions

Back to the OP topic.

If WSS wants to keep the load out he wants, is there anything he can do to improve his capability?
I pointed it out already, back down on the trail difficulty or lighten up. I've played this game way too many times in the hard stuff. The extra weight just wears stuff out, makes the rig struggle on stuff that it doesn't need to and all around makes life difficult.
He was thinking mid-arm but it sounds like that’s not necessarily a solution so would changing shocks in the rear reduce the affect of his weight transfer?
Less weight for more trail, more weight for less trail. He does NOT have an issue that will be solved by anything other than removing weight or changing where he wants to play.

If you reframe the question to "how do I spend money to make this rig work" I think you might have more luck.

Reducing how far back the weight hangs will help. Also try looking to what the overland community does. They carry more weight than rock crawlers for similar reasons to you. Have you looked into on demand airbags in the rear for when most of the weight is transferred back?
Perfect except for overlooking that overlanders don't run stuff that difficult so they can get away with more weight.

I am trying to bridge that gap. I may have to do a modular swingout, one with just a spare and the other for overlanding (more than 1 mile)

After reading the whole thread quickly, my advice @WSS is to get another rig for your wife. You double your interior storage space, all get to go camping, have another rig so your not wheelin’ alone, and both rigs are lightened and more capable.
We rented a JL from Kmas0n last week, bad mistake. His rigs are really capable and SMOOTH. So I am hearing "JL" whispered often. 60k vs 30k though. Gotta do more wheeling to justify it. I was kinda hoping to get a boat not a JL.

You might actually be the rare person who could use a JT Rubicon... 4 seats, decent cargo space, fits 37s or larger easily...
Might even tow your boat

Move that family driven weight forward and lower !😲 , a mid arm didn't help these guys prevent us from speaking German.🙄.
Keep wheelin with the family, it's worth the issues and limitations!👍

Oh man, those things hit every branch on the ugly tree. I have only seen a handful that grab my eye. One of them had a hamburger supercharger on it.

True, from what I see, they pull off the asphalt, engage 4wh and navigate the sandy edge to the hard pack, then at about 1 mile, they pop up the RTT and start a fire, then tell stories with the other 16 vehicles in their group.

Do I sound like a loner?

I’ve driven with him a few times and it’s hard not to pull the trigger on one. So unbelievably smooth and capable.

At first I gawk at the price tag, but how much are you going to spend on buying and modding a TJ to get it to compare to a stock JLR?

Given that they start at $39.5k I’d have a decent bit of budget left over after my LJ+build so far.
Buy an LJ, a new set of RJ60’s and 40’s and it’s about $40k. Still need Coilovers, LS, Trans, Atlas, odds and ends, armor, midarm, bumpers, seats, fuel tank, beadlocks, winch, crawlteks, digital dash ….

then there’s time and tools and shipping…

But, after following JK’s on king coilovers with 37-40” tires struggling their way through the Rubicon last week, I have no desire to own newer.

Just the sound system alone!! I bet the JL would be close to 70 if you let Kris' shop do it's thing. Probably the best feature of the JL is the auto trans. Kris mentioned it made good choices for you. In action, it really did pick the correct gear. low or high.

The kids we had with us were considered "smart", so their stamina was mental. My son is totally used to the fear, scares and hanging on, the other two were knocked out for the last 1/4 of the trails from adrenaline and exhaustion. I had a good time just thrilling them in total comfort. On broken arrow, we had two pink jeeps cheering us on on the downhill before the stairs, not sure of the name, but I was able to stop about half way down and let the feeling sink in. Loved it!

You don't need all that to keep up with a stock JLR...

There's a dealership in Iowa that is selling JT Rubicons for $40k
That seems fair. Here in Kali we have things like "exclusivity fees" and "market adjustment" NO KIDDING. Our expedition had a 7k fee tacked on because no one else had it, we did not buy it from them, in fact I found it in Elko NV, flew into salt Lake and drove in to get it for 10k less

I was shopping for a Ford Tremor, look at this......

I talked to a local dealer here in Idaho about putting together a package deal price on 2 JTs and when I told her about the dealer selling JT Rubicons for under 40 she said she had no idea how they could sell them that low even if she ordered them as bare stock as she could they would be more than that.
