Well @mrblaine has outdone himself yet again. New to me 241 transfer case installed and a custom flying magnet switch for the 4wheel indicator light. Skim module installed and now all locks match my ignition key. Jet accuspeed to calibrate my speedo. New front and rear driveshafts and a swayloc installed.

My only problem with this setup is the underlying schizophrenia that has now awoken in me. The swayloc has so significantly changed the way the jeep handles I want to drive it like a complete asshole. I can take turns in the rig now with the same feeling of grounded stability I’d get from a sports sedan. It’s incredible how different the rig feels. The swayloc coupled with outboard tuned shocks has the jeep performing at rally car levels.
However, now with the 241 I also want to get off the road and just crawl slower than grandma. Such good problems to have. I am so impressed with this jeep.

You're very welcome. Just remember, you can build a canoe out of duct tape so if you throw enough band-aids at something, you can make it handle and drive very well. ;)

Sooooo you drive like everyone else in SoCal now? 🤣🤣🤣

Grats on the upgrades glad you like it.
I almost always have to give these guys shit over how poorly they keep their brakes broken in. I always get the "look" that says "yeah yeah, don't you have someone else to fucking pick on?" Then we swap places and I get to drive. After the first stop, they never say anything but I know they are thinking to themselves "holy fuck, these goddamn brakes better start working better or we are going rear-end someone, hit a fucking dog that jumps out in front of us, or blow through yet another stop sign."

Oddly enough 1 of 2 things is always true. They either bring it back with fully broken in brakes or I never get to drive again.

Ok I consider myself a pretty patient easy going guy. It takes quite a bit to actually piss me off. But lately discount tire has managed to do it twice. I come in to get a rotation and balance and I catch the guys only doing the rotation. So I go tell them I want a balance too. This has happened a lot. Then I catch them only balancing two wheels. This has happened twice and both times the 18 year old tells me they usually only balance the fronts. Now I tell him balance all my tires. Am I fucked up?

I haven't shopped at Discount Tire, other than online, in a LONG while, so I don't remember if they provide lifetime balance and rotate when they sell tires or not. That being said, it's actually typical of most tire stores that do provide, lifetime balance and rotations free with tire purchase, to only balance the tires going to the front unless the customer plainly states they want all 4 balanced or lets them know there is a problem with the front tires being out of balance. Now if you're not getting a free service and actually paying for balance and rotate then hell yeah you should be pissed.

Gotcha. I think me being upset is more of an issue of me not wanting to babysit the techs, on any job for that matter. I’m not old, and never really lived in a time in age when taking your vehicle to a mechanic wasn’t met without anxiety and suspicion. I guess I just wish that wasn’t the case. Unless you are friends with or know the person who will be working on your vehicle or know their reputation there just isn’t any trust and that sucks even for something as simple as a rotation and balance

Agreed 100%, I used to work for and have shopped at Les Schwab for over half my life and have come to trust them as a company but, like you, if I don't know the guys working on my vehicles, I have a tendency to watch what's going on. We have become a cynical society and not without good reason unfortunately. One thing I like to do, when I go to a repair facility I've never been to before, is take the time to talk to the manager/owner face to face and get a feel for what kind of person he/she is, before I have them work on anything of mine. That doesn't always work out unfortunately.
