Axe / Shovel Hood Mount

It was slow at work and I get bored easy so gathered up some scrap and fabed up a hood mount.
Saw something similar online but I'm way to cheap to pay what they wanted for one.
This is my first attempt..........

I made a second one, this time I used Quick-Fist clamps. I like the second design much better.

Online they were about $110.00 and resemble my first design.
I've got about $20.00 in the first one, and that was for the U-bolts, wing nuts, and some small flat plates.
The second one I only bought the Quick-Fist mounts which were just under $20 at Cabelas. Everything else was just scrap brackets from different things I cut up and pieced together.
BTW.... I'm a Collision Tech in an auto body shop.

I have always looked at hood mounted jacks and shovels weirdly.
One little oopsie while mounting/dismounting and it is a scratch on a hood, or busted windshield

No way i'd ever stick the jack up there. Shovel is pretty light and easy to maneuver. Still, I'm just covering my options, It might end up on the back with the spare.

I like the idea but it rains all fall winter and spring...well...it used to...and I like my axe and shovels rust free. That and fiberglass handles seem to degrade quickly in the sun. I still like the idea...but I might find a way to get a waterproof tarp or plastic box over em. Nice fab work. Amazon has the clamps for a little less. I also use the for securing MSR fuel bottles full of chainsaw premix.
