Metalcloak fender test on stock suspension with 33s

I'm all you have Greg. 🄰
You are projecting an awful lot. You picked your compromise to gain about an inch of tire clearance.
I appreciate the insights you share regarding your suspension. Why are they here once again? Oh wait, yep its an MC thread!
Then devolve to "they're ugly"?
I went back and read the OP, I missed the part where they asked your opinion.

I absolutely love my Overline Fenders and the way my Jeep looks. I built my Jeep for me and the way I wanted it. I 100% do not give a single care if anyone else likes it in the least. Really causes me not a moment of pause in enjoyment of what I built…

There are no Johnson Valleys or Moabs in Ohio. My jeep works very well for the terrain here. I feel like some people lose sight of, or have no frame of reference, as to why others build their Jeeps the way they do. We aren’t all trying to cross a mountainous rock formation or hanging off ledges…

I also missed the part where the OP asked for your involvement. But here you are. You must have missed me. 🄰

You have to remember if it's not approved by the (KREW) it's not good enough.

I guess since I've lived in more places and wheeled in more places than just where I happen to live now I remember this. Build it how you want and those who don't like it can get BENT. I'm happy with my Metal Cloak products and even happier that they actually have installation instructions. Plus guess what???? They gave me stickers.

Unlike others where I actually spent more $$$$ on their products but I had to beg borrow or steal "How to Install" on their stuff but they aren't the company that people talk shit about.

As long as your Jeep is working for you no worries. It doesn't have to meet others criteria just yours.

You're smarter than this.

Doubt it. Remember I ain't running aluminum or any of the other accepted stuff. And I have ugly fenders...

If you can't see my point then?? I find it ironic that with some companies their lack OF things is accepted and while with others they are racked over the coals. But it's OK cause I'm blending all of these products to work together. And my Jeep will be built how I like it.

You have to remember that there's a difference between what people run and what they discuss as better or ideal. For some reason everyone here gets pissed when others discuss the merits of available options and get all personal.

I try to only discuss that which I KNOW. Granted sometimes I talk out my ass but most times if I do I'll own up to it.
The idea that only ONE way to build our rigs is acceptable is ludacris since we all don't use them for the same things.

Can you imagine if a company like Metal Cloak didn't include instructions or stickers with their products?

The presence or lack of instructions is separate from function (or aesthetics). These fenders are what they are and they do what they do regardless of that. You also know, because this is a very well trodden topic, that the function and purpose of these fenders diminish as the tire size and shock travels increase. Yet we aren't supposed to talk about that because it hurts people's feelings.

Where in any of this was it suggested that there is only one way to build a rig?

I can see the benefits of highly modded jeeps in various types of terrain. Guess what, I'm not driving in that terrain and cannot justify the expenditure of time, labor and money; a stock sprung jeep is more than adequate for me. You insist I'm short changing myself by not modding the heck out of it regardless of usage, but I'm projecting? OK then...moving on.

So is an inch not worth much now? Why bother with the huge expense of steering and axle upgrades to go from 33's to 35's then? It's just an inch after all. I didn't realize that swapping out old rusty fenders for an inch gain was such a violation of the Borg collective.

I must say, this thread has been quite predictable and entertaining! Like dinner during the holidays and someone has too much eggnog and takes a comment the wrong way.

It would do you well to re-read the OP. Then poof who magically appears in post number 4 is you and your fucking shock mantra. Most here have learned not to follow you into your cosmic shock length bunny hole of endless questions, but here we are 70+ posts in. Mostly of you dominating the convo and spewing your dislike of anything MC.

Then in true circular logic fashion twist it into the above bullshit response.

Who ever said there's one way? I see comments reasoning why one might want something else.

Personally I'm glad I've seen a ton of these discussions over the years as I've worked through what I want and my experiences. I've watched to know what people use, when, and why. I've also gotten to witness a lot of people justifying their choices they end up regretting and end up changing.

I guess I'm an old school guy, but I don't really think about instructions (within reason). I like to reason about things and understand the why rather than just bolt it up. The brand isn't really relevant.

ANY fender has diminished up travel unless it's a totally cut out fender. The HATE as far as I am concerned has always been the marketing of Metal Cloak. Because they CLAIM you can run XX size tire and this doesn't hold up as totally true. And my POINT is that if M/C didn't include instructions the BASHING of their products would be even worse.

I could give a FUCK if you like how they look. But the bashing of Metal Cloak seems excessive to me. My opinion. And who's feelings are getting hurt?

Almost everyday it's suggest that it HAS to be built this WAY. Didn't you bring up aluminum? So because I choose to use steel instead it's implied I'm WRONG. And because the O/P isn't worried about a 3" suspension lift to clear 33" tires but instead chose to get Metal Cloak you said he was wrong. So yes in many ways it is implied there is only ONE way to build a rig.

Is shock length not relevant? I had "the recommended ranchos" for my lift and wouldn't have been able to get my tire above the fender line, for example, so these fenders (as ugly as they are) wouldn't have mattered. It seems like you're intentionally spinning this into trying to jab at someone's travel since you two can't get along.

Explain how the fuckin shock mantra was incorrect. Also explain how it was inappropriate to provide further context to what we were seeing in the first post.

Offer up something useful.

Again I see it over and over again where it's build it like this or it's WRONG.

As for instructions? Sorry but I'm OLD and there are many things I can figure out but there are also many times and things IMO that should have instructions. Especially when it's technical things that need to be done a certain way. But to each their own.
