Headlight Experts not accepting return

After putting JW speaker headlights in my JK, and Diode Dynamics in the Gladiator I was wanting something not quite so expensive for the TJ. I ordered a $299.00 set of led headlights online from Headlight Experts. I took out one of the old headlights and started installing the fixture that holds the new bulb and realized you get what you pay for. I wanted no part of these Chinese lights. I emailed for a RMA and was told to send them with order number. I did and they received them. I noticed I never got a credit. I emailed and all the said was they were installed, and thank you. I'm pretty sure they are refusing to refund me. I ordered the JW Speaker cj tj 0549711x1. 7" led dual burn chrome. The box says made in USA!

I’m also in the market for new headlights to replace some junk that came on the jeep when I recently bought it. Let me know what your thoughts are once you’ve gotten to use the new ones a bit, thanks!

If you had the ones that look like a knockoff of the holley retrobright, I have a set of them on my 66 mustang. Aside from the ballast/driver that I had to put somewhere to keep from banging around, they have been very good. my TJ got a cheapo $65 pair of the JW speaker lights off amazon though.

The Amazon ones are a fraction of the price and made in the same place. Sorry you're dealing with this. File a chargeback if they refuse to refund you.

Ok, I bought it with PayPal. They want me to contact customer service again. If that doesn't get results they will step in. That would be great if they can make it happen.

If you bought it with your card, even though PayPal was acting as the card service provider, I'd file a chargeback with the institution that issued your payment debit/credit card. You can call the number on the back of your card.

Share what happened and provide them with evidence of your return and communications. (same advice applies if you need to handle this directly through PayPal)

My guess is that if their stated return policy is that the product cannot have been installed, and if there is any indication on the product that is was installed, the chargeback will not hold up.

I’m saying they’re all made in the same factories. One gets a logo stamp on it and the other does not. One may have slightly better quality control too. But they all come from the same place of origin just like almost everything else.

I opened a dispute with my credit card company. I did start to install one of the headlights and realized I didn't like it and stopped and put it back in box. I never mounted or hooked up either bulb, and only mounted one of the headlight buckets. I took the dog for a walk and checked email when I got back. Headlight experts is going to do a courtesy refund even though I started installing it. Thank you headlight experts.

They did charge me $55.00. restocking fee?

The JW Speaker headlights I bought are 0549711x1 7 inch led dual burn, chrome cj tj. Not the same model as on Amazon. Actually Amazon doesn't carry these.

According JW Speaker website, they make all of theirs in Germantown WI. I doubt they're producing all the Amazon ones too. More than likely most of the components are made overseas and assembled in WI. The knock offs are getting their stuff from the same factories and assembling theirs cheaper.

If I had to bet money my money would be that they’re “assembled in the USA from globally sourced parts”.

I’d be happy to be wrong but I highly doubt they’ve setup a factory with all that tooling.

I hope someone proves me wrong and goes to the factory and takes some photos! I am always happy to support stuff that’s truly made in the USA.

Chris, I think you’re right. I toured the Makita USA plant in Atlanta and that’s what they were doing.
They made them take off the made in USA labels.

Their plant where they design, manufacture, and assemble everything they make, is local to the Harley-Davidson plant in Milwaukee. But if you don't believe me, check this out:

That’s pretty darn cool. That definitely makes me wanna support them more. Granted the prices are pretty crazy, but it’s nice to see that they do still manufacture some of the stuff in the United States. Thanks for sharing!

I grew up in Wisconsin (near Green Bay), went to college in Milwaukee, and then stuck around and worked there for H-D for a few years before I left the state. All that time, I didn't appreciate the manufacturing capabilities of the companies in the Milwaukee area. Although a lot of it has left over the decades (Briggs and Stratton - shame on you!) since then, there are still good ol' 'Murcan companies manufacturing in that area. USA! USA! USA!
