03 Rubi rear driveshaft rebuild question

I’m changing the u-joints in the rear driveshaft. Per the Denny’s chart, I need 5-795x for position 5 and 5-793x for position 6. Position 5 went in without issue, but now putting in position 6 there appears to be a lot of play. See the video. Is that ok to install or am I missing something here?

Another where's this vibration coming from thread

Unfortunately, I have a new vibration in the TJ. I’ve spent the past week or so trying to nail down the exact conditions under which it happens so I could come here for some advice as to what to look for before I go out and roll around on the concrete in single-digit Michigan temps to start...

    2012+ JK common issues

I'm strongly considering adding a 4-door JK to the fleet and reserving my TJ for wheeling trips. The JK would be used as a DD as well as to tow a popup for family camping trips. Having the JK would also afford me more time to fix / upgrade whatever breaks on said wheeling trips on the TJ...

    Drummond Island Michigan

Just got back from a trip to Drummond Island in Michigan’s upper peninsula. 4 TJs total, and for the most part they did great. Of the names trails, we hit Mu’s Nemesis, Connor’s Hole, Marblehead, Tight Twisties and a few others. We traveled Thursday, and spent all day wheeling Friday and...

    New vs. Old Style Antirock

I'm looking at getting an Antirock. It appears the old style is a bit cheaper (~$30 so not a huge difference). It however can be delivered faster and appears to have additional adjustment holes. Are there distinct advantages / design differences that would make it worth buying the newer...

Brake line extensions for Antirock or quick disconnects?

I took a trip to Drummond Island in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula with three other TJs over the weekend and managed to break a sway bar link. I’m thinking of upgrading to either an Antirock or the JKS quick disconnects. Currently on a 2 in OME lift. Would I need to extend the brake lines for...

    Morryde Tailgate Reinforcement Kit Question

I'm looking at the Morryde system and would simply use it with the stock tire carrier. Right now I have the a 31" tire on the back but I would be adding a 33' tire to match the other four. Still running the stock bumper and stock Moabs. It looks from my current setup that a 33" would not...

Advice about campers (possible Scamp purchase) and towing capacity after lift

Hi Everyone. I’m looking at getting a small trailer to go with my rig, and I have a couple questions. I understand the towing capacity is 2,000 lbs. I’ve currently got the ONE 2 inch lift with the heavy duty springs. As I have a four person family, I’m looking to get as much space as possible...

    NV3550 fill question

I’m changing my fluid on the NV3550. I see that the capacity is 2.1 quarts. Since I don’t have a great way to measure that, and I was planning to pump directly from the bottle, do I just need to fill all the way up to the fill plug? Or will I be overfilling it at that point? Thanks!

The beginning of the end for the Cherokee nameplate

Had an XJ in college, and it was always one of my favorite Jeeps. Say what you want about the current Cherokee, but it would be (will be?) sad to see the name go. https://www.yahoo.com/autos/cherokee-nation-calls-jeep-stop-195500246.html

Thoughts on aftermarket thermostat options and whether or not to replace fan clutch

Hi Everyone. I'm planning to do a coolant system overhaul while I've got some time off work, and I've already acquired most of the parts listed in the FAQ thread (Mopar radiator, Mopar water pump, all hoses, etc.) The problem I'm having is that Mopar thermostat will not arrive before I have...

    Holly Oaks ORV Park

I finally had a chance to check out the Holly Oaks ORV Park in Southeast Michigan on Sunday. It was really rainy, which made some of the hill climbs quite exciting and limited the motorbike traffic. Between the lack of motorbikes due to rain and the fact that it was opening day for deer season...

Smoking after dropping exhaust and replacing oil pan and cat back

Hey guys. I did some work this weekend replacing the oil pan and installing a cat back exhaust system while I had the skid plate off. I reinstalled everything, and now it’s smoking a bit on startup. It appears to be coming from the pre cats. On the bright side, I have no visible oil leaks and...

    Front Locker Problem

I seem to be having a problem with the front locker on my 03 TJR. when I flick the switch, the rear locker will engage as it’s supposed to, but the front light continues to blink, presumably without engaging. I took some photos under the skid plate of what may be a seperate or may be a related...

97-02 vs 03-06 Windshield Frame Question

Hey Everyone, I've got an 03 Rubicon with a rusted windshield frame. About a week after I bought my Jeep, I came across one with the same year, same color for $500. Not realizing how hard it would be to find another, I passed looking for a better deal. What a mistake. I now rarely see...

Silver Lake Sand Dunes Camping and Wheeling - Michigan

Hey Everyone, Just thought I'd share a few photos and videos from a quick camping and wheeling trip with my son and my friend to the Silver Lake Sand Dunes in west Michigan. We're a bit north of Detroit so it was about a 3 1/2 hour drive out from my house. The Jeep was great on the highway...

Build advice for 03 Khaki TJ Rubicon

Hi Everyone. The post got a bit longer than I'd anticipated. There are some questions at the end. To give you a bit of background on how I got here, I work overseas regularly, including a 2 year stint in Thailand from 2015-2017. While I was there, I rode scooters, as one does in Asia. Upon...
