Rotors ok, got plenty of pad?
Yes, looks good. I tried to take the pics where you could see the pad. Not the best pics!

Anyhow, I’m pumped about the disc brakes too. It’s an upgrade in a sense, whether or not there is much braking improvement. For one, most people think it is an upgrade. For two, with Black Magic brake pads it likely is an improvement.

Is it true that e-brake performance and climbing hill performance might be enhanced? I read that in the other thread on disc brake conversion, but didn’t know if the info was accurate.
I don't see how the type of rear brake will affect hill climbing. The parking brake performance will actually be less than the rear drum. On the disc setup, the parking brake is inside that small top hat section in the middle of the disc. It has much less surface area, which is a key variable when it comes to brakes performance. More surface area equals greater stopping force, all else equal.

Yep, @Ranger_b0b is right. Rear disc uses two smaller shoes that utilizes clamping force on the inside of the rotor hat. Less surface area, but when adjusted properly, I've had no problem holding on a steep hill or a section of trail while waiting for a slow ass JKU to baby his bus thru a section of trail. Hehe!

If disc brakes are worse than drum brakes, why does anybody want them?

Discs are better in certain circumstances. You're just not going to notice an increase in stopping power out off them...unless your drums are way outta whack.

There is an aftermarket proportioning valve whose name escapes me.
The proportioning valve can be dialed in or adjusted to direct more pressure to the rear brakes on a 4 wheel disc brake vehicle.
If the front brakes handle most of the braking load, a proportioning valve would help balance the overall braking load between front/back, increasing efficiency thus reducing stopping distance. No?
I would look into this if I had 4 wheel disc brakes. :-)

Started painting the Dana 44. Got to the Diff Cover, bolts and Rotors today, inside and out. Cling wrap has many uses, one of which is quickly masking off areas, cutting to fit and easy removal.

Picked up this free trailer from a friend who was dumping it. 4x8, good frame, I'll look into a straight axle with 5x4.5 bolt pattern, maybe from a 2WD Cherokee. Then put some 15x8 steelies on it. Should work good for Moab trip, Has storage accessible on both ends and we can mount our 3 MTB's on top! Cool

What's up with the trailer picture?
Geez, it looks like I messed up my thread. I had a post with a pic of my new free trailer. I'll fix it. Thanks!

Ah, thought something wasn't adding up there. So you picked up that trailer for free?
Yeah, friend who owns the Lakehouse at Buchanan used it to transport his kayaks and fishing gear. Now that he has the Lakehouse he doesn't need it anymore. He's moving too, so he's trying to get rid of stuff. Fun find. Hopefully I can find a short axle that will work for it. I think this one will work.

And it's even the right color! Bonus! FYI, jetski trailers have the same lug pattern if you happen to find a junk one and can use the axle and leaf springs from.
That is very good to know. I bet I could find one around our parts. Jetski's are a dime a dozen...

I’m not sure. I thought at one time I had a leak there, but I also banged up my oil pan and it’s hard to tell what’s leaking in that area, if ya know what I mean. Whatever it is, it’s so minor that I hardly ever get a drip on the floor. But I can tell there is leakage. That’s a 4.0 for ya! I love my engine!
