05 LJ Rubicon Build

I bought the headlights used on Facebook for $380. They usually run $800 new. I bought the matching fog lights for $80 and those run $400 brand new.

The photo below shows it all. The factory TJ bezel is on the left and the JK bezel is on the right. You just have to remove this ring, take the screw studs out, and put the studs in the new lights. After that you put everything back together like you took it apart. The studs are what is used to position the headlights. You may have to zoom in on the photo to see the screw studs I’m talking about.View attachment 49753

Very nice headlights, but wow the price tag!

Clearly cheaper ones on the market. They are factory mopar and these were cheaper than buying JW speaker after market ones. Just happy to have something that is really nice quality under $500.

I hear ya, never knew JKs came with LED headlights or some at least. Thought leds were only introduced with the JLs..

It’s an upgrade I’d like to do so I’ll deff keep my eye out for wrecked JKs that may have these lol
So is the harness part of the JK or is it 3rd party?

I bought a wiring harness adapter off of amazon for $10. You don’t need the anti flicker kit. TJ’s don’t have that problem. The LEDs on the JK’s only come on the 2017-2018 Sahara and Rubicon models. I’ve also seen some really high end sport models come with them.

A Mopar LED kit is something I could get behind. I'm running H4 housings and a relay direct from the battery on my lights now. It's a huge upgrade from stock, but there are a lot of new wires in the system (failure points). It would be cool to go back to factory and run LEDs as they have a much lower current draw.

Agreed and agreed lol.

Haven’t posted anything in a while. Not much happening with the LJ as I’ve been working on an XJ here lately. I did notice that the bushing in the top of the front axle has started to come out and I need to replace it. Also the bank 2 sensor 2 check engine light came on the other day. Already picked up the sensor but have yet to install it.

I noticed that the headlights are as low as I thought they were lol. Because of the “retro fitting” that I did they aren’t quite perfect. I’m going to replace the studs with some bolts of the same size but add some washer to help point them down so they don’t “pop” off the studs.

Other then that we just did some off-roading the other day with my buddy. More mild stuff in the Rubicon and really hit his hard since he trailered it in. His TJ is stretched, on one tons, and 40’s. I still can’t believe he drives this thing at 70-80 mph lol. Other than the axles, drive shafts, suspension and he fuel cell in the back everything is pretty much stock on the Jeep as far as the drive train goes. It’s a pretty sweet set up. Enjoy the pics.

His angry bird even has eyebrows... that's a first! :risas3:

Seriously though, I'm shocked he drives that thing at 70 mph plus as well. On 40s, what kind of gearing / axles is he running?

It’s been a while but I have gotten a lot done to the Jeep recently. Picked up a mopar front bumper, had it repainted, installed, found a killer deal on the matching rear bumper that I could not resist the other day and got it installed.

I picked up a set of kicker replacement speakers from Quadratec and I highly recommend them. They come prewired to the factory plugs and go right in. Was really nice to not have to do any cutting or splicing and I’m very impressed with the sound that they put out.

Not sure when but we really want to redo the suspension.. my dream set up is below lol.

2.5 OME with HD springs
1 inch daystar body lift
1 inch daystar motor mount lift
Currie control arms
New Adams driveshafts front and rear
Tummy tuck skid plate (still not sure what brand
New gas tank skid plate that works with the 1 inch body lift
Some BFG K02’s or KM3’s - not sure what size yet. We have 5.13’s and it would be nice to not have to re-gear again..

So we’ll probably be saving up until we can accomplish everything on this list above meaning we probably won’t have another post for a while. Enjoy the pics!

Looks good! Glad to still see some work getting done it’s a beautiful LJ. Just curious why daystar for the BL/MML?

I would check out all the savvy stuff budget dependent, Double adjustable CAs, BL, and the “diet” stuff (belly up and gas tank skid)

I also really like how it sits right now with the 35s.

Looks great. Best looking bumpers on these by far IMO. I’d go KM3s

You mentioned in your first post about removable steps. Are they something that goes with the N-Fab rails?

If not, what brand are they? How are they installed?

I like the way it looks but not the way it rides haha. Our last LJ rode way better than this one does.

Not against Savy stuff. I just know it might be a little out of our price range is all. We had the daystar body lift and motor mounts on our last LJ and I liked them. I don’t want to do the JKS 1.25 spacers. I like that daystar is a complete replacement.

Yup! The steps and rails are n-fab. Just two bolts for the steps that go into the rails. Really like these. They hug close to the body, look good, and function well.

We don’t drive it daily or anything which is why I’m tempted to pickup the KM3’s... but at the same time when we do drive it we usually go on a bit of a road trip. We loved our K02’s. Might go back to those just for the streetable driving that occurs. They did everything we needed them to do and then some as well.
