2004 Wrangler X audio stuff

So o decided to replace the factory speakers with some kicker stuff. And I got everything wired in but noticed the passenger front wasn't putting out audio.
SO, I remove the radio to check the wires, all good, the outlet plug has power, checked to make sure my radio fade/balance wasn't out of wack, all good. I break into the speaker pod on the passenger side and found a little capacitor & resistor. Ohm'd them out to 22ohms. Not sure if this is what it's supposed to be. Maybe the capacitor is bad? Could I just snip these components out?
That's the only thing in my inexperienced electrical mind that could possibly solve the problem.

I also reversed polarity to make sure that the speaker was wired up right, did it the same as the driver side, just had to be sure.

Oh, that tape that was covering that capacitor & resistor was no joke

Edit: I thought it might be the speaker itself, but if that were the case, the tweeter on top of the speaker in the pod would still work.
&Is it normal for capacitors & resistors to be wires together like this?

Too funny. I'm actually doing the same thing today and was curious where to splice in, before or after and capacitors.

I'm keeping the factory CD player.

On the driver side ( was before I knew there were capacitors) I spliced after(drive side works great. Sounds loads better than before). And the passenger side, I cut the capacitor out, and it made no difference, still no sound. Will end up pulling the dash apart at some point and rewiring that speaker from the radio to the speaker.
& Putting the capacitor back in

Good to know, thanks. I had some newish boston acoustic 4x6 and 5 1/4 from my old jeep and figure they have to sound better than 13 yr old factory speakers. With a rainy day and a little trimming the 4x6 fit in very nicely, even got to use the factory screws.

Yeah, I'm not 100% sure, but I would imagine that it would power the speaker better with the capacitor, even if it's just 100micro ferrets. I'm no audio guy, nor an electrician though.

Swap the speakers side to side and then you will know if it is a speaker or the wiring that is f.u.b.a.r. clipping out the resistors will cause the 2 speaker unit to send full range of sound to both the main and the tweeter causing both to operate out of their designed range. You should just connect the speaker to the speaker wire the way Jeep has it done originally. Or replace the whole thing with a different speaker. Trying to rewire the stock speaker system won't make it work better.

I wired in after the resistor to both fronts. The clarity of the sound has been greatly improved, however I did lose a bit of volume. They sound better but aren't as loud.

The speaker is good. So I'm thinking it's got to be wiring from the radio to the. Plug
