...and I know the TJ market.
I kept asking the same question over and over because you were being evasive on the answer about the damage. You knew what it was and didn't want to tell us. Just by saying the front bumper was damaged. You weren't being forth coming. "Finally" got it out of you that the frame was damaged.I can obtain the rebuilt inspection paperwork no problem. I had already mentioned this before. As for name calling, that guy just kept saying the same thing over and over again and I kept saying the same thing over again. I’m happy that people have replied to my post but the best advice I’ve gotten on here are from the ones that actually do what I wanted in the first place was to offer suggestions on how to improve my post. I don’t need to have a discussion on why rebuilt/salvage titles get less money than clean title vehicles, etc. I am up to date on all that and I know the TJ market. I am aware that my jeep is a hard sell that is why I need improvement on my post to make it alluring to potential buyers. Again, that’s the point of my post.
Oh i’m notUh, orange isn't the most popular color in Eugene.
No, I said, "You may not be aware of pushing prospective buyers away before they even look at the Jeep." You said you've had inquiries, but that no one has come to look at it. Make sure you're not being antagonistic with them.
I need $2200 to pay off Jeep. And I need $5000 for the Miata. And the Jeep is my daily. So it’s either $6300 or no sellYou seem to be receiving a lot of guff on this post. Really you are on the right track.
You know the obvious, 4 banger that has had past damage. Nothing you can do about that. If you need it sold fast, you will need to take the lower price. If someone offered you $5k, talk to them. Back and forth a bit you might get $5.5k or $5.8k. That would be pretty close to your goal.
It is like needing cash quick and getting a payday loan. The interest will be 10 times what you would get from a bank but you gotta do what you gotta do.
Certainly stick to your guns and be honest but read other ads. Just as Real Crazy's example fluffed it up, you should too. You have to expect it when looking at used cars. People understand and can read through the BS.
It sounds like you're wanting us to side with you to justify buying this specific TJ, despite most of the people on here saying it's worth about half or that you should pass. If you're going to come to the "experts" (term used loosely) for advice and they say hold out, but you keep arguing that it's some sorta God-send then go buy it. After owning nearly 30 vehicles in my 12 years of driving, helping friends buy new vehicles, and working on vehicles for a living, I'd say pass. It may look clean, but like other's have said, this guy is looking to make a profit. Totaled and rebuilt titles are less than ideal to work with, some insurance companies wouldn't even ensure them. Don't rely on CarFax either. A long CarFax history doesn't mean much to me. And by passing on this one you'll save more so you don't drain your funds just in getting the car. Waiting longer doesn't have to mean paying more for a different one, keep the extra you make between now and when you buy for a "rainy day fund" just in case something like the clutch, differential, or something else major goes out, especially if you don't have a backup daily driver. And after owning a TJ with the 2.5 (and now swapping it out) there is very little appeal to one unless it's less than 1/2 of others with the 4.0. That's my input.
Rebuilt title sounds ok, but your gonna be stuck with it for a long time when you decide to move on from it.
1) Your dream car is NOT a salvage title 4 cylinder Jeep. It just can't be...can it? Get the emotions out of the way, they're leading you down path of terrible financial decisions.
2) It sounds like finances are tight. Have you REALLY factored in poor gas mileage, insurance, etc into the cost here?
3) Please, do not take a loan out for a 17 year old jeep. If you can make a car payment, you can pay yourself first. Save and pay cash.
4) If you're desperate for a car, keep looking. Find something in the 3000 range that will get you through the next year or three. Get your finances straightened out, save, and find your dream jeep, which is a 2004 4.0 Sport or Rubicon, unmodified, low miles, no damage
Yeah but I didn’t buy that jeep so I did take the advice. I wanted my first car to be a jeep TJ and hey would you look at that I succeeded. I took advice and didn’t get the one I wanted which was the yellow one. Only problem with that jeep was that it was obvious that some kind of off-roadIng Hunter type used it and the fact I couldnt secure a loan for that amount.https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/i-want-to-buy-this-jeep-but-i-need-your-help.26357/
Ha ha ha!!! You are THAT kid! Why am I not surprised?
Sounds like you should have taken our advice when I first posted about you and Jeep ownership...
You followed everyone's advice on the yellow Jeep and then turned around and bought a different Jeep that has exact same problem that everyone did their best to steer you away from (a Salvaged/Rebuilt title). Many members warned you that you would have trouble if you tried to sell it later.Yeah but I didn’t buy that jeep so I did take the advice. You make it sound as if a first time TJ buyer can’t make a post asking from the community about buying a TJ. I don’t really care if anyone on here buys my jeep like I said over and over and over again, a lot of the “advice” is information I already know and information I don’t care for explaining in text form to people I’m not trying to sell it too. I didn’t plan on paragraphs and paragraphs of people bitching. I care for things such as typos, stronger presentation language, etc. Then there’s this aggravation about not being spacific which is not my concern. You are totally correct about being more patient, waiting for the right Miata, etc. I did not ask the gentleman to take down the craigslist post. I asked him if he would give me till the end of the month. Who knows I might sell it at the end of the month. The guy isn’t in a hurry to sell and I’m confident that I can sell this jeep for that vehicle. I wouldn’t be leading any car owner on if I didn’t think that I couldnt accomplish my goalSounds like you need to save your pennies longer. Pay off the TJ then you have the freedom to buy whatever you want. Right now you're a slave to the lender and that's what's driving your price, which is what is hurting you. Like others have said, leave it posted, if a sale comes through then perfect, but I wouldn't keep the Miata seller on the line like that, especially since you made him take down his posting. You continue to ask for advice, I was one of the first to chime in. You said you took my advice on taking the black and white photo down, but then when I looked your posting over again the next day the picture was still up. Sounds like you want one of us to just buy your Jeep instead of advice.
This sounds like the kid that post this fall with "Help me buy this TJ" or something like that.
You basically did buy that jeep. You bought a salvaged 4 cyl wrangler.Yeah but I didn’t buy that jeep so I did take the advice. I could have my dream car, a TJ, at $4000. I needed a car. I had only $4k to spend. I didn’t want to go through a dealer and get fucked. I made the right call. You followed everyone's advice on the yellow Jeep and then turned around and bought a different Jeep that has exact same problem that everyone did their best to steer you away from (a Salvaged/Rebuilt title). Don't get me wrong I wish you all the luck in the world trying to sell your Jeep, you're going to need it.
The four-cylinder thing didn’t bother me. Nor did the rebuilt title because it was professionally repaired from the same facility in which I bought it from, which again is also a friend of the family. It was a good call. I just don’t like the jeep and I fell in love with something else that’s itYou basically did buy that jeep. You bought a salvaged 4 cyl wrangler.
… By the way, why would you want a Miata anyway? That's kind of embarrassing.
It’s practically the same thing. Same area. There wasnt any structural damnage to the frame. Btw, I don’t have to explain myself to you. Ever. Nor do I have to over explain.I kept asking the same question over and over because you were being evasive on the answer about the damage. You knew what it was and didn't want to tell us.
