Welcome to the forum from a fellow norcal member. You should check out the norcal section under the regional section and join us on a future run. As far as the rubicon goes you don't need 35s to have a good time. 33s and a locker or two will get you through just fine. @Thunderhead got through on 32s and a 2 inch budget boost only winching 1 time, if I recall correctly, and that was on little sluice durning a freak snow storm. Like others have said the best thing you could do is go out and start pushing the limits of what you currently have. You'll quickly find what you want to upgrade. For a daily driver personally I'd want 33x10.5 with a 2" emu lift, ranchos rs5000x, 1.25 bl, a mml, and a selectable locker.

Another thing you will find...do it cheap, you will be doing over very quickly if you use it hard. You will find the weak points. You will break it or find the faults of cheap stuff. We have all been there, had small budgets and paid the price.
Does that mean you need $15k for suspension? Nope. It means you will need to find what is best for your budget and wants and needs out of the Jeep!
Just because you wheel with a guy that has a sick TJ on 35’s doesn’t mean you can’t follow or even lead with a set of 33’s setup right. Hone your skill set, learn your Jeep and most of all, enjoy it. Don’t play keeping up with the neighbors, believe me, someone always has more money or skill and you will chase a money pit into financial ruin or give up the sport.

The question is how much a are you capable of doing yourself? It’s a lot cheaper to run 35’s if you are doing all the wrenching and that includes gear setup. If you farm it all out it’s not cheap.
Do other people you wheel with have CB? If not, I'd wait. If so, they're a great tool for communication. You'll have to drill holes for good reception though so be aware of what your long term goals are so you don't place it where you want something else.
Such a uniquely cool color brah! Just because you want 35's doesn't mean you have to jump in right away. Choose the right parts at the right time and work your way up to it as your budget allows. Folks here can steer you in the right direction for the proper parts and setup.

There are some other ways to hang with the 35" guy's too-
- unplug a spark plug wire or two
- banana in tail pipe (saw it in a movie )
- water in the gas tank

I've built for 33's, and I'm still probably approaching 7k in upgrades. My budget is "every dollar I spend gets matched by a dollar for my wife".
