Speaking for myself, I've never driven in snow, and don't intend to now. If it should happen to snow here, I'm staying the Hell home. I don't know how to drive in it and neither do any of the other fools out there.
Well you live in Florida so it doesn't really reflect badly on you. You have to have snowfall in the first place to get experience and skills driving in it.
It would be nice if some people would stay home when it snows. Especially the idiots that don't have the equipment to be out in it. If you drive a minivan, STAY HOME. If you didn't get snow tires, STAY HOME. If you aren't smart enough or respectful enough to pull over when you are traveling at 7 MPH and see the flashing yellow light on my truck and big steel thing attached to the front called a plow, STAY HOME. If you can not physically walk 4 feet, STAY HOME. If you wear sneakers, STAY HOME.
I agree with everything you said except for the snow tires part. I'm not trying to argue that they aren't extremely helpful or that 4wd is going to help you turn or stop (obviously it wont). The only reason why I say that is because most people who I know who get snow tires in the first place are really bad at driving and aren't pushing their abilities to make use of them.
