Changing from 2WD to 4H

After I got my license I insisted on going driving every time it snowed! Find an open parking lot and play. Start slow, make it skid. As you get a feel go faster. Nothing like experience!

It's amazing how similar-looking conditions can behave completely differently. I still induce skids to test conditions. Some snow isn't much worse than a wet road. Some ice when you touch the breaks you get full lockup and barely reduce speed. I've put the wheels in a ditch to get traction as I couldn't make it up a small hill on the road!

It's always fun lending a hand, too, and somebody will need it. Could be me!
Well said! Every vehicle is like a person. Don't know it's particular limits and abilities til tested...😉

Speaking of snow driving...I hate to be a traitor yo my gender but is there such a thing as "driving school for chicks who are scared of snow and ice" that doesn't incorporate dads, boyfriends or husbands? Every female patient I had scheduled this week canceled appointments because they were "afraid to drive in the snow" or their boyfriend/husband couldn't drive them. wtf?
Sorry to rant. But seriously....🙄

Girls or guys it doesn't really matter some people are just never going to get it and it's safer for them to just stay off the road at that point.

Driving in snow or ice I find that 4 hi on is 100% necessary. A lot of times going into turns or curves, the front wheels will like to keep going straight. Having it in 4 hi, depending on how fast I'm going and what's in front of me, I either give it some gas to pull me into the turn or let off the gas and throw it into neutral and guide it thru. It all depends on certain conditions but 4WD on is best.

It's the dreaded 3-word contraction..."you would have". Similar to "all y'all".
All time winner is "Yeet yet?" for "have you eaten yet?"
My help, for all of his SoCal birthplace and upbringing must have drunk too much lake water when he visited Arkansas and Oklahoma. I walk by and he mumbles something about picking up parts and then far more clearly, "do you have a card?" Sure, I have a card, why do you want to know? I'm going to AM to pick up parts. Okay, what does that have to do with me having a card? I need a credit card to pay for the parts.

Oh, okay, that is an entirely different question. Had you said "I'm picking up parts and need a credit card to pay for them", I would have known exactly what you needed.

I told you do you have a card, same thing. Well, no, sorry, that is not the same thing at all.

My children answer the phone but don't say "hello". Both of them, like it's a thing!?! They just stay silent until I initiate the conversation. It usually starts with me "SAY FUCKING HELLO WHEN YOU ANSWER THE PHONE!!

Sorry, this has nothing to do with the conversation, but your story reminded me of this

I'd really like that. I'd spend about a month ignoring them no matter what they said that was addressed to me in conversation. When they start to figure it out, then they get the lesson.

Oh, does that mean you want to be acknowledged in some way when you want to speak to someone?

That and the other lesson is when they answer and don't say anything, just hang up on them.

I really wish I had that type of resolve.

Speaking for myself, I've never driven in snow, and don't intend to now. If it should happen to snow here, I'm staying the Hell home. I don't know how to drive in it and neither do any of the other fools out there.

It is a pain in the ass. But, it isn't the end of the world either. I grew up in it, and for all the bullshit, I have been to Big Bear many times in the snow and have even run the trails up there with a couple of feet of snow on them. We've even run a few out in JV with snow on them. Given a choice, I will avoid it.

It would be nice if some people would stay home when it snows. Especially the idiots that don't have the equipment to be out in it. If you drive a minivan, STAY HOME. If you didn't get snow tires, STAY HOME. If you aren't smart enough or respectful enough to pull over when you are traveling at 7 MPH and see the flashing yellow light on my truck and big steel thing attached to the front called a plow, STAY HOME. If you can not physically walk 4 feet, STAY HOME. If you wear sneakers, STAY HOME.

If you don't know how to answer the phone, stay home.
