Does this re-gear quote look right?

So I'm looking to regear and I'm in the middle of getting some quotes.

My first quote is for $2,000 plus taxes. It shows new ring gears and differentials front and rear, plus labor.

Do I need new differentials with 513 gears?

Can you guys look at the quote and let me know if it looks right?

You don't need new differentials. Carriers maybe, but not differentials.

That price seems a bit high though, I will say that. For parts and labor on TWO re-gears, I've never paid more than $1600.

The "Differentials" listed in the paperwork is the overhaul kit from Yukon for the axle including bearings and seals. That isn't too high if they do good work. Axle work can cost you a massive amount of time if it doesn't go well, it's worth paying extra if the shop is highly recommended.

Edit: you couldn't pay me to get work done at 4wheelparts, I'd find a shop through a local 4x4 club

Thanks, I didn't think it looked right. I think 4WP's just gave me their $2,000 gear special pricing without looking to what I actually need.

I paid $2,100 out the door for a re gear in TN. However, I also went true trac on the front and back. Went from 3.07 to 4.56.

Keep in mind that many 4x4 shops will quote a "full price" regear that is higher than it needs to be since most 4x4 owners have no clue what a regearing costs and some of those will buy without trying to negotiate a lower price. Shops love that to happen so they make that their first offer. Push back and if they balk say thanks and turn around to leave, they'll usually see they need to be more competitive and offer a lower price.

I don't shop at Walmart or any of their affiliates since they pulled guns out of their stores in response to a shooting that was neither their fault nor their responsibility. But, I'm funny about stuff that way.

My buddy owns a transmission shop.

Car comes in, dangerously low of oil.

Fearing an engine failure while testing the transmission, he pours some used oil in it.

A tech in his shop freaks out . Pat, you can't do that!! No, no, that's wrong . That's used oil.

Pat - sir, I promise you this oil is better for that engine than any that isn't in it.

Pat wins most arguments in his shop, if anyone has the courage to try.

I get similar often when folks ask me how to fix stuff. Generally my answer centers around me telling them that it's already fucked up, you ain't gonna make it worse.

But, I reuse gear oil, engine oil, and coolant all the time. Drain it into a clean bucket, cover, fix whatever minor little thing that required the drain, pour it back in. Especially with Swepco since we seem to be draining the system on steering pretty often with new fluid we just put in.

I paid $1100 (drive in/drive out) for Revolution 5.13s on my '06 LJR a couple of months ago. I realize that different areas of the country have different pricing but that quote seems very high to me.
