General Grabber AT2 vs KO2

It’s time for tires and I have a question for the masses, side note... I’ll sell you some street Michelin’s cheap. As the title states, I’m torn between the grabber at2 and the ko2. I’ve run the bfg ATs with nothing but great success in my old tj. But my question is actually two fold... is there a huge difference in performance between the tires general and bfg. Two, and as the prices looks, should I go for the extra 1/2 in tire and run 295/75 r16 with the grabbers. Clearance wise I’m running dpg’s kit,... is there an on road or aired down difference between 285 vs 295, it’s an half in on paper but I can’t find anything.

It will be going on an LJ rubi, 6 speed with factory 4.10s.

It is crazy hearing all of the success stories with the K02's, i mean i am happy they work out for so many people but I have had nothing but bad luck with them. I have had good luck with the MT's but I have never had success with hoe the k02's wear. I am talking on different vehicles even. I guess I cannot give you advice on the tires themselves because you have had good luck with them, so if that is the case I say stay with what works for you.

As far as size I don't even think you will notice a 1/2 inch. I mean if you have the space in the fender well for them. I think you will be ok. My Tj came with some badly uneven weared k02's immediately I changed them for the same sized Duratracs and literally the duros were 1/2 inch shorter. Still drives the same cant really even tell till I put a tape up to it.

I haven't run the BFG tires, but am running the Generals on my F150. I like them. They are quiet, have great wet and snow traction, look good, and they are about 20% cheaper than BFG. I don't think there is a 20% difference in performance...

The GG's don't have the sidewall protection that the BFG's have, that one of the main disadvantages. They don't have the same ply and are more puncture prone if you ask me I've owned both previously. There are also other differences if you compare the two.

Basically it comes down to price, if you can afford the BFGs go with them, if not go with the GGs. And make sure you get 5!

They do in their Grabber Mud tire, but I'm done with mud tires.

That’s part of the the mind game... bfg all E load rating, and 40ish a tire addition per tire. GG are D load and cheaper. I’ve only run the bfg in 31x10.50. It’s a great tire, great tire, but is it worth the potential ride and addition $250?

I think it is worth it, my last set of these BFG ATs lasted me 60k miles and they weren't all the way gone either.

What "potential ride" concerns did you have? These tires are great all around.

I am curious why I am the only guy running Nitto Grappler tires — I run a LT265/75R16 due to the rim choice of the previous owner of this jeep. I really do not have anything from experience to compare them to but I love them on my rig. When the original Nittos wore out I put a second set on- they are very quiet and seem to grip wet rocks and mud well. I have had a lot of opportunities to cut sidewalls when aired down yet have never nicked them at all. Maybe there is something better and my head is in the sand but for the moment ignorance is bliss. Am I wrong?

I don't have a Jeep, and I don't have four wheel drive, but I love my Grabbers (AT/2).

I run them on a '93 Chevy C1500 Ext. Cab - 5.7 Liter 350 V8, with a 5-speed Manual transmission, and a 3.72 rear end. (Stock height; tire, and rim size: 235/75/15).

It has front and rear sway bars; so it can drift like nobody's business! (The BFG KO2's sidewalls are too rigid for that I think). But even though I don't have four-wheel drive, I have taken it off road and they perform just as well on dirt and rocky ground. No punctures ever. But they also weren't super sharp rocks. So if it was a fulltime or serious 4x4 I would probably go with the BFGs.

I've had them for 5 years now, and I've put about 25,000 miles on them. They are about half way gone and I even need a new front end, so the edges are pretty worn and rounded; (I just had them flipped on the rims).

They also do really well against hydroplaning and channeling snow. They are also studdable. They also have an actual UTQG treadwear rating; so I would say they are closer to a highway tire than the KO2s, (If I had to classify them).

I am thinking about getting the OG Grabber A/Ts, because they cost way less and have better reviews than the AT/2s.

I will never buy AT 2 again.

I’ve had had a hard time keeping them balanced and the sidewalls look like trash.

I’m going back to DTracs when I get new tires. I have also noticed for a snowflake tire they are not great in the snow.

They may not be as expensive but in my opinion spend the extra cash on a different tire.

I'm quite the polar opposite in opinions about the AT2s. I ran 2 sets and nothing but good things to say about them. They are great in the snow with my set up and driving. Then again, ymmv.
