Getting a 2 inch lift

Well we will have to see if I get the lift done by then, (do I need it to be lifted to do those trails?), or if the country will be open in time to do it. :D

Sounds like fun though. Where is the info on it??

I heard Deer Valley is an easier trail than slick rock. Slick rock has sections on the more difficult side but I've never been personally so I can't give you a personal rating. You can find tons of videos online on the trails. @bobthetj03 has done the trails though multiple times on a 2" lift and 33's.

Ok, I was reading the info on the JKS front bar and it says "minor drilling to install". What do I have to drill? Shouldn't it just hook to where the old one was hooked too?
The lower mounts bolt hole on the axle will need to be drilled out a bit larger. Very easy to do.
No, I haven't picked up any bump stops yet. Do I still need those if I have the 0-2" Rancho shocks? I was under the impression I need them if I had taller shocks. It's still so confusing to me on what I need. I keep hearing different things all the time. I heard that I could get away with just the relocation bracket in the back, but then I also hear that the front would still be off if I didn't get an adjustable bar for it. Then I hear it will steer fine with just doing the relocation bracket in the back, but then I hear it won't. LOL

Right now I want to do as little as needed to put the springs on. If I can get buy with the stock sway bars in the rear, I will do it for now. Eventually, I probably change it all out anyway as they are all old and needing to be replaced. But for now, just want to get it lifted. :D
bumps would be needed if you increased your tire size to keep the wheels out of the fenders. While you have your springs off do yourself a favor and cycle the suspension. You'll quickly figure out if you need additional bump and exactly how much. Make sure to pull the rubber stoppers out that contact the spring pad before doing so though since we don't count them as they will flatten out over load.

Ok, thanks for explaining the hole drilling. LOL I was getting a bit nervous. :D

I am keeping my 31" tires, so I don't think I will need the bump stops?

The easiest way to determine it would be to cycle the suspension when you have the springs off (disconnect sway bar first). If your tires hit the metal on the fenders or the shocks bottom out you'll need to add a bit of bump.

Yah, the thing that sucks about that is, I will have it apart to change the springs and can do the cycling to find out how much bump I need, but then I am screwed because I now have to order and wait for them to come in. So the Jeep would have to sit apart till they did come in so I could install them. LOL Wish there was just a "common" size bump stop for a particular lift size. That way I could order everything before I took the Jeep apart. LOL

Unless you're pushing the limits offroad you can run the springs while you wait for the bumps to arrive (If you need them). Since you have a lift you should be able to swap out the springs fairly quickly/easily.) I would bet if you disconnect the front and rear sway bar links before raising it up the springs will be able to be removed with a gentle wiggle.

Ok. I may try to cycle it now, and just put the old springs back in, till I get my track bars. That way I can at least order the bump stop and get them roughly about the same time as the bars. I will probably try this weekend since I can't go anywhere anyway. LOL

As others have said, cycling is ideal.

Let’s see if we can do some virtual cycling for ya. Okay so at 31” tires you should be okay with no extra bumpstop on 2” of lift. With 0-2” Ranchos, they have a compressed length as shown below:
2E305BA4-C506-4936-A192-F3B26FEAD012.webp
8E3EE05D-6693-45D8-B4D0-1E35A9510139.webp

Stock shocks measure as follows:

Front
13" compressed
7.5" travel
20.5" extended

Rear
12.2" compressed
7" travel
19.2" extended

So technically on the front, no bumpstop extension will be needed at all since the Ranchos are almost exactly the same length as stock. The rear Ranchos are .5” longer than stock in the back. So without any cycling you should need half an inch of bumpstop extension in the rear and non in the front. No need to order any kit or spend lots, just grab a longer bolt for the rear bumpstop cup and space it down .5” with some washers. Glad to hear you got adjustable track bars, when you need help getting the axle exactly centered just let us know!

Just thought of something else. Anyone have a link to the YJ front brake lines?

@KimsJeep , I have 4 1” bump stops, came from Rock Krawler.

I am not going to be using if you want them.
PM me your address and I will drop in the mail tomorrow.

I just installed a 2” lift on my Jeep ,ended up only needing 1” of bump for 32” tires.

Hi, I think I understood the math, I agree cycling would provide the ultimate right answer. What if she wanted to use 32in tires?, would an additional tire inch require 1 bumbstop inch??

I would highly doubt it.

Most likely not, it’s not a linear relationship in most cases. 35” tires on 4” of lift is usually at 2-3” bump extension, and it’s super hard to predict, which is why cycling the axle is critical. Backspacing, tire width, shock length, fenders, and axle placement forward or back are all factors.

Assuming you are talking about a 32X11.50R15 tire, it would also be an inch wider which will likely rub the shock towers. You can add bump stop or adjust or the steering stops to address.

Definitely cycle the suspension before hitting the trail.
