Homemade Bump Stop Idea?

So since I use hockey pucks for bump stop extension, I had to do a little experiment to see what they could handle. So out comes the 12 ton press and a 1-7/16" socket to represent the bump stop cups. I pumped until it became a lot of effort, and I'm pretty sure it was more than the pucks would ever see on the Jeep.

I used two just because that's what I'm using on the Jeep.

Now there is an impression in the puck, but there was a ton of pressure applied to it. The ones on my Jeep do not look like that, there's just a little spot where the jounce bumper contacts it.

Well done! No doubt now they will work reliably

If you're using hockey pucks and tolerances are close before a fully compressed shock, hopefully you are accounting for the squishiness of the puck.

Heres a pic of 1 of 4 poplar homemade 2" bump stops by @JMT .

The bump stops became an "emergency" when the bump stops i ordered were out of stock, and the lift HAD to be installed on that one day, so JMT came up with the 2" poplar wood bump stops.

I tapped the perch with a 5/16" threaded hole, used a 2.5" bolt and they installed as if they were made for it.... custom made in fact!
