I got called a mall crawler today

You know it's like the girl picking up dog poop with a bag... And I'm like hey you've got an instant hand warmer.... She was like oh that is so gross.... Well.... I'm not the one with dog poop in my hand am I??

I know out here..its not so much the mall crawler comments but more "Why the hell are you driving that, its thirsty, not very practical and parts are rare and expensive ...I would never buy or drive one of those" I reply with 'That's exactly the reason why I do drive one !!"

The only 3 things I harshly judge on other people cars:

1- Buying one you can't afford. If your car payment is more than your house payment, you are probably dumb
2- Spending more money than you have to modify your vehicle. If you are taking out a payday loan to buy new rims, YOU ARE DUMB
3- Modifying your vehicle in a way to make it useless for its intended purpose

If you have a jeep and just use it as a DD then you kind of by definition are part of the mall crawling community. I mean i thought that's what mall crawling meant, you have offroad modifications or offroad vehicle but stay on the road. It's quite easy to tell if someone is a mall crawler, you look at their rockers, diff covers and skids ... if they clean scratchless, gougeless and dent free... they're mall crawling only.
well I do live in the city but I go off-roading as much as I can I also go mudding when ever I go to my cabin

I live in S Fl for the next month or so (yay, I’m getting set free of this hole!), so currently both my Jeeps have seen more mall parking lots than offroad. Heading to a state / area that is supposed to be great for trails! @AndyG , you’ll have to accept me with just the JT for a little while until we figure out the house thing there!

I really don't care what other people drive as long as they don't drive like an asshole. If you drive a big ass yellow school bus on 40's with straight pipes I don't give a shit as long as you stay in your lane and don't drive it like a douche. The only time when it annoys me is when they clearly are driving something they can't afford and start bitching to me that everything is so expensive, I need to pay for their shit because I have "privilege" , etc.

That's a good post. Looks like a 3 story mobile home behind it too. Folks with money right there!

As someone born and raised in New Jersey, please allow me to offer MY "standard reply" to comments like that; to wit: "Hey - that's a dirty crack! Speaking of 'dirty cracks', how's your Mother? Ah, let's get offa Mothers - I was on yours all night!"

What exit? Couldn't help myself.

I sense a faux-crawling treatment on the vehicles to avoid the shaming lol

Ultimately that original comment the OP shared is really just Jeep hating coming from a pickup driver that probably doesn't use the pickup for more than going to the mall and grocery store.

I like where you're going here. How much you think we could charge Overlanders for the faux-crawling treatment? Some painted on rust, couple strategically placed skid marring, some cut tread lugs, and premium treatment includes screwdriver gouge appliques on beadlock rings.

The 38’ Next Level toy box is maxing out my towing capacity. I have installed airbags and upgraded to 10 ply tires rated at 3415 lbs each. The vehicle has a 10k axle and a Prodigy proportional brake control. From my multiple trips through the weight station and reading the laws, I’m “Legal”.

I’ve had the setup for 10 years with any issues. I can pull the trailer out to remote camping spots in Ocotillo.

So yeah, my truck can do that.
