Inexpensive (El-cheapo) TJ Mods

Here's my first mod and first el cheapo mod... Roll bar flashlight holder by Bartact.
Smittybilt and E-Autogrilles also make one similar but they didn't look as strong as this one. I have a ridiculously large 6 D cell Maglite that I've kept in my truck for years(it was free from T/A Truck Stops with fuel points) and wanted an elegant way to store it in my jeep.

I can't take credit for this one, but costs me nothing & finally have something strong enough for daily use. The stock and replacement ones just plan suck, make your own

I have painted my headlight bezels black and added JK headlights. I did the whole DIY quick disco sway bar links. I replaced my broken hood latches with hood pins and love them.
Ya I am curious about the lights and how you mounted them. That is a great mod and will probably get a lot of reads in the How to section.

I noticed when I got my tj there was small bulbs in the headlights that weren’t wired up to anything. I did a quick power and ground check to see if they work sure enough they did so I ran my own wire and wiring loom and made DRLs out of them they come on and off with the ignition. You can kinda see the glow in the drivers side headlight in this picture. I’ve since upgraded my headlight bulbs to LEDs so the DRL lights are next if I can find bulbs. Not all TJs have this option as far as my research provided it’s a mandatory Canadian assembly but the Jeep was built in the US so I’m not sure how they ended up in this jeep. But I’m not complaining!
Converted my cigarette lighter socket to remain on at all times with ignition off... total cost = zero.

Being in NM it might not be an issue, but if you lived in a wetter climate, you really want your A/C to run with your defrost. The A/C is really a dehumidifier, and will defrost your windows quicker and keep them dry. If you take that away they may take longer to get rid of the water which fogs the windows. It does look high tech though!
It is not an issue here. Most cars and trucks have the push button AC actuator, with the AC cycling on with the defrost settings. I am more interested in using the first three settings for heat in the winter without the AC compressor cycling on. I know when I want AC. The writeup above seems to simply interrupt the light green wire, which is a ground when the AC setting is selected.
I figured that is what you were doing. I just wanted to make sure you knew the a/c is a dehumidifier is all. Carry on sir!
Even better than El Cheapo.....sell your useless CAI on Craig's list, and get a used stock air box and ac Delco filter. I got 150.00 for the Volant CAI that was on my Jeep when I bought it, and found a used stocker for 35.00. That and the filter element, and I ended up 100.00 ahead, anf no longer have rocks getting into the motor. Life is good.
