A couple things they could have done better on this one. Lose the 2 extra doors, add round turn signals to the grille. Then it could look like a modern version of this:

I actually like it. Wouldn't pay the 40k+ even the hardtop Sport S trim will probably run, but I will enjoy cringing at the JKU jabronis who upgrade to one of these and destroy it.

For what it is, you're right. I just think it should probably have a new name like GM did with the Colorado because it sure doesn't look like a new Gladiator or even a New Scrambler.

Not just because I am a Jeep Wrangler fan, I dig it! Obviously wheel base and the huge amount of rear overhang won’t make it an ideal rock crawlin rig (till the aftermarket world gets ahold of it) I think it’s a pretty cool truck for what it is.

The looks may be controversial, particularly in how it mixes with the history of how Jeep Wranglers look, but if you put that baggage aside and just acknowledge it as a pickup truck with removable doors and top, you gotta admit that it's a pretty cool idea.
As long as it doesn't have any major issues in performance (and as long as the price of gas stays low), I wouldn't be surprised if it sold really well. The versatility of the Jeep features allow it to stand apart from other more established pickup models and the massive size with all four doors seems to match up with what consumers are buying

I'm most interested in the towing capability. I'm sure this truck can tow 7,000 pounds. But at the same time, I'm not sure I'd want to tow that much weight with the 3.6L. Ideally I'd use this to tow the TJ around. I'm just not convinced that it has enough power to move a 6,000 pound trailer up a moderate hill at a reasonable speed.

Wrong. That's not what I said, not even close.
And while I should have put the word "new" in front of Scrambler (and will edit my post to do that), I sure as heck didn't mention any Wrangler.
The latest Mustangs, Camaros, Minis and even the Thunderbirds of a couple years all looked like a modern version of the earlier oness and used the same names. The HHR, the SSR, the PT Cruiser and even the Plymouth Cruiser didn't look like any specific past vehicle so they ended up with these new names.
Then, of course, there's the New Beetle, it really doesn't look like a modern version of the old Beetle and used a totally different layout so I'd say that would place it in the group with the HHRs. The original VW started out as the Volkswagen Type 1, then the 1200, 1300, 1500, 1302, and 1303. VW might have gotten away with just Beetle since they didn't use it before but everybody called the old ones that so VW added the "New" so we could tell it was something different without seeing it.
Is that a 3/4 scale model Wagoneer on the trailer or maybe a photoshopped picture?

Make a 2 door version and I might consider swapping an LJ for one. A real bed would be nice and the ability to remove the top and doors would make me feel like I was still in a jeep.

I like it. Put on some bigger tires and a 2" lift. Would look awesome IMO. It's made in my home town too...so I am definitely a supporter!
