Got the tail pipe done on the Jeep. Not happy at all with the places work. I know I am OCD and don’t really care if a tailpipe is perfect but I showed him photos and walked him through where it’s gonna need to go etc.
I don’t believe it is going to clear old factory axle mounts so I will either remove those or have the tailpipe done again somewhere else. It “might” clear the upper arms.
Worst part is they half ass welded on the ugly exhaust brackets over the outboard welds on the bottom, and covered a frame hole. I will likely cut that off and move it.
Ugh and this is supposed to be the best place around. Guy is like if it hits bring it back I’ll fix it for free. I am like how about just doing it right in the first place?
On a positive note now that the exhaust doesn’t dump under the Jeep it is much quieter and still sounds good.

I know a good muffler guy in Lakeport if you have to redo it or need something else done.

I appreciate that, but that’s 2.5 hours from me. I have to get under there and take a detailed look to see if I can make it work by modifying it. Or am just gonna try to find another place.
Take that tube they use for the front hitch, run it all the way through for a rear receiver.

It is actually true and I have had one soul test it after asking me 20 different ways if was tow capable and me giving him the same answer and then the admonishment that no matter how many different ways you ask, the answer won't change.
About 3 months later I start getting emails from him because Savvy won't warranty his bumper because the receiver part is cracked out of it. I got the usual "I don't know what's going on, I just looked back there one day and it was like that". You didn't try to tow that boat you asked me about did you? Oh no, not at all.
That might have flown for a bit but the pictures he sent over clearly showed the boat in the background just behind the Jeep.
That and I know him well enough that no matter what I said, he was going to do it anyway.
The problem is the fatigue life aluminum is severely shortened when you subject it to vibration under load. The worst thing you could do it hang 2 mountain bikes from a hitch mounted carrier and then hit a washboard road at a good clip. That would probably crack the receiver right out of it.
Did he weld over the paint? Wow. I would cut off the stock brackets, but that is my OCD.

Only had one 20 minute freeway drive so far. But it was gone after that. The real test will be when I drive up to the cabin again this weekend.
Nice. I swapped out my cap and my gurgling is gone buuuuuut there’s coolant dripping off the front of the engine on to the diff.

Man I just read this whole thread today. Such an awesome inspiring build. My favorite part isn’t the 12 inch travel shocks or the 35s or mid arm. My favorite part is having all those off-road capabilities while paying attention to the on road driving characteristics and not budging an inch in compromise. And even making it better in the process. To me that’s the true spirit of a TJ LJ, the best of both worlds.
I hate trusting others to work on my jeep. I try to do as much as I can myself, but some things I have to trust to pro's. Killing me right now as I wait here to hear of my jeep's fate. If you are near Rocklin, bring beer.
Jameson will take care of ALL my worries my friend!
