Minimum driveshaft lengths

Adding a body lift won't help tuck the transmission up into the body. This was the OP question. The explanation is why the tummy tuck came in. Because a body lift won't tuck the transmission higher up the explanation was that a tummy tuck would. Thus him asking if a body lift would change drive shaft length required the answer that the body lift won't, but for him to achieve the desired outcome of tucking his transmission up higher into the body the required action would be a tummy tuck. And this would effect driveshaft length.

With me using an NP241R TC and the UCF skid, even with their LoPro mount the TC is in contact with the bottom of the tub, even when centered in the trans tunnel. So then by adding a BL it will tuck MY trans and TC up higher. So then yes, a BL lift would change MY driveline angles. There wasn't a question of if BL's change driveline angles. I did state that in my application a BL would change MY angles though. I think we're all pretty much saying the same things and in agreeance, that in my situation I'll have steeper driveline angles, I think some just didn't see the context of everything else that was said.

Anyways, after wrapping things up the other night I pulled a few rough measurements to see about where I was sitting for my angles and such. I attempted to put my Dana 35 back into it's previous location and the trans and TC are about where they will live. My angle finder was saying right at 22*. The Dana 35 was forward in the wheel well because the PO didn't have adjustable control arms. So when I put the 8.8 in I'm planning to push it back 1-2". Still conscious of my clearances between the axle and the gas tank. Even with raising the TC about 3/4" after the BL I think I'll be under the 22* mark.

Say it however your want, the body lift is not the thing that will change the driveline angles. Though it might allow you to do other things that will change the drivelines angles. It is a mildly nitpicky, but crucial distinction in understanding how things work.

Exactly what I was saying, only more betterer words.
 
Again with some nitpicking...I believe the pinion on an 8.8 is something like 2" longer than on the Dana axle. So any benefit you are hoping to gain by sliding the axle back could be lost. And be sure to cycle the suspension to confirm the proper alignment of your bumpstops. You will most likely need to move the upper coil mount on the frame.

It's it? That would be another reason to not like the 8.8.
