My second TJ build

Got the 8.8 removed. I’m at the tire shop now getting my rear tires switch over so I can roll the 10.5 under the Jeep.

That is crazy sketchy. I'd at least suggest chocking both front tires front and back.

I'm curious why you elected to run limit straps with standard body shocks? I run them with coilovers, but those can come apart on hard drops. I always thought properly sized standard body shocks would work fine without straps.

Front tire is chocked on the driver side front and back and in front of the passenger side. I’m also only under it when the rear is lifted with my tractor. It’s only out of the picture now because I moved the 8.8 out of the way with it.

Also forgot to mention about the shocks. Standard body shocks can still be damaged by over extension, so those are a precaution to preserve the shocks.

Then I started working on this. Relocated the steering box forward and flat in preparation for my front install. I still have to get my lower joints, but luckily the joints I had to replace due to the 10.5” rear truss change I can reuse those for the upper. Plan is to push the front out 4”, unless I can squeeze a bit more out. Steering shaft worked as stock, I just had to modify the center support some.

I’ve been slacking on keeping you guys updated. I finally got the front end done. This is the matching Dana 60HP. I stretched the front out 3-1/2”. For the coil towers I used Barnes4wd stretch towers. It’s currently on some junkyard 4 inch front springs. I have some Rock Krawler 3.5” springs on the way though. The steering set up is all Chevy 1 ton TREs setup as a T-link. I am also going to have to rework the steering shaft. I modified the support and thought that it would allow enough clearance, but it is still rubbing. I am going to fabricate a new lower shaft using a few few U joints to get it exactly where I want it.

The board is having a hard time uploading my photos for some reason. I will try to add them here in a little bit.

Not a huge update, but got a few small things done this week. Firstly my slider HVAC control panel had failed and anyone that’s looked for a good one for a 97-98 knows you’re screwed on getting a replacement. So I decided to go with what I felt was the best route and swapped over to the ‘99-up conversion. For this I had to swap in the newer heater box, control panel, and add the new HVAC wiring that I stripped from a ‘99-up dash harness. Luckily I got everything for $165 (half what a good 97-98 control panel goes for). I went ahead and put a new heater core in while I was at it.

The second thing I got done was my steering shaft. I now completely clear everything. Steering is much easier and smoother. Pics are hard to get of this though.

Not a big update, but I swapped in a Ram 2500 master cylinder the other day. I was of the understanding that it was a straight bolt in minus the bolt needed to lengthen the pushrod but the body is longer not allowing the proportioning valve bracket to bolt up. I will be fabbing up some brackets soon to take care of this. I also had to relocate the charcoal canister. I will be fixing a more permanent mounting solution for that as well.
