"Pacing myself" build

The KO2's performed as I expected they would in that slop, horribly! Heck, even the folks with good mud terrains were struggling.

Took me 2 tries to get up that little spot. Just mash da motor!
The first attempt was a lot more dramatic hence why I started filming. You definitely used momentum to make the second , filmed, attempt look easy.

Maybe because mine are fairy new but it seemed like after I chewed down a few inches I could get a decent amount of traction. I only failed to make it over one obstacle in the first 4x4 area that I attempted. I was high centering a bit and the logs were slick as ice. @Thunderhead saw the attempt. It was just before you directed tom out of falling into the muddy ditch.

And no.... I still am not ready to pull the trigger on a TT :p

Those logs were no joke. Ruts in between the logs and they were spaced so your hitting both front and rear at the same time

Next month I will be tackling repairing the AC. I will be replacing the evaporator and the heater core while I'm in there. Pulling the dash is going to be zero fun factor. Cheapest Mopar replacements I could find were here,

You’re hardcore man! I so need to do this. Just can’t get up for it.

The hardest part is coughing up the 500 bones to get the parts. I'll try to document the chore for you Jeremy. AC is not only nice in the summer, but I found out this past winter it is also nice during the cold months to keep the dang windows from fogging up.

Should I remove the steering column, or just suspend the dash with rope to get the HVAC box out? Don't want to create more work than I have to.

Sadly I need to do the same exact thing. I have had the ac parts sitting forever but I'm waiting for the system to completely die. If I was smart I would have done it when I had the fenders removed when installing the MC but that would have been to easy.

I thought you already changed the heater core? I didn't realize how expensive the OEM unit was.

Nope, heater core is original. Nothing wrong with it, but at 170K miles and 14 years old I'd be an idiot not to change it out while I'm in there.

Don't you hate that. When I do mine I'm going to be quite tempted to change out the dash since the PO had the radio stolen and the guy broke off all the mounting screw tabs. I have the radio attached in a redneck style now.

Zipties, best invention EVER!

I debated over that too for a bit before I did mine. I ended up removing the dash and it wasn't too bad. I don't recall if your Jeep is and auto or manual, but if it's an auto the brake transmission shift interlock cable threw me off at first. I've got a little info on it in this thread. https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/another-heater-core-replacement-and-a-c-evap-core.15568/

Having the dash off made it easy to access stuff. I added some plastic wire loom to the wiring harness while I had easy access.

This is one of those jobs that can really develop scope bloat on ya. "I'm in there and its a pain in the ass to do, so I might as well do _______."

Good Luck, I don't envy you!

That's the truth.

That cleaned up nicely. Knowing me, I'll probably try to do some wiring clean up as well if time permits. Did you lock the column before removing it so you wouldn't risk effing up the clock spring? Mine is a 5 speed btw, so I hope the shifter won't be in the way.

I did lock it. You shouldn't have the brake transmission shift interlock cable to worry about.

I'd recommend losening the pinch bolt on the steering shaft before rotating the wheel and locking it. It was a pain to access when the head to the bolt was pointing up.

Thanks for that tip. (y)
