"Pacing myself" build

I probably do need to revisit a few things with some of the changes I've made lately, but time is not on my side, with some maintenance I need to get done on my RV, plus an upcoming Jeep run later this month. I played it pretty safe on my bumpstop extensions. So I probably has some wiggle room there. It's a lot of work just to change my bumps 0.5", so I think I'll pick up some 1" coil spacers, put those on, then play around with the bumpstops and maybe shave 0.5" off the jounces. That could net me another 0.75" of up.

I have been thinking about your Jeep, and I was wondering why are you fighting the 4" lift? You already have the adjustable control arms. You are already geared, and you already have the 33's, and adjustable track bars. Why not just put some 4 in springs in there? I know you were fighting the body lift, and you succumbed to that, why not just put the 4" Currie springs in? You can take the body lift back out, and you will have new springs and more travel?

My jeep needs to be user friendly for my 5'4" wife to drive. She has a hard enough time climbing in and out of it, if I raise it much more, papers may be filed. I prefer not to sleep in my jeep unless absolutely necessary, lol!

Is that really the reason? Not to question you, but I am slipping at the edge of the rabbit hole looking for reasons not to do it myself and I am not even close to where you are yet.

I still need to gear and buy track bars if I decide to go that route,

but honestly for you if you were to remove your springs and your spacers and your body lift, then put 4 in, it will only gain you 1.5 of which .5 of that you would get back by removing the body lift. So it would only be an inch taller, and probably more up and down travel, and maybe get rid of some of your ride issues?

To be honest, I haven't given the 4" lift much thought over the years of jeep ownership. Starting off with 31's, a 2.5" lift seemed like the thing to do, and just kind of took off from there. My jeep actually rides pretty good, but there is always room for improvement. Maybe I'll just wait until you pull the trigger and move over to the dark side.

Haha that is scary because I was half waiting for you. It really might be a while for me because my 31's are pretty new and holding up well so far. If they do fail or wear out, I believe I can fit 33's in there next round, but it will be a lot tighter. That is when I think I will fall down the rabbit hole. Unless something between now and then changes my mind, like regearing and buying track bars etc.

Argh sometimes being a gear head is a curse. I cannot just own a Jeep! It's a sickness really!

I remember when I bought the Jeep I told myself I was going to leave it stock. Then I wasn't going to go beyond 3" of lift. I failed at every step.

At least you're "pacing yourself". I on the other hand can't control myself!

I blame it on @Starrs though.

I can take solice in the fact that you are truly out of control brah! Lol! When is the stretch and coil overs coming? Hehe!

Have you considered doing a “stirrup” to aid your wife getting in? Doesn’t mess with your clearance at all. Looks easy enough. Then 4” lift won’t be bad. I was planning to make one for my wife when I got the new rock sliders, but my wife says that she can just run and jump into the Jeep. Seems to be working, for now!
