My Jeep Wrangler LJ Rubicon’s rear differential carrier is damaged (locked and won’t unlock from the limited-slip gears). Can you recommend a place where I can get a replacement carrier or possibly upgrade ?

Rubicon lockers don't have any parts availability and aren't very strong to begin with.Best thing to do is go ARB or eaton E locker. Get one for "thick" gears.

I'm dreading the day I'm in the same boat as you.and hoping the bits and pieces don't take out the ring and pinion

Or… find a front locker off a Rubi and swap it in the back.
They turn up from time to time on eBay.
Baseline 4x4 typically has them used.
I bought a decent low mileage front locker I keep as a spare for the day one of them gives out.

The front Rubicon locker is already a small locker. It shouldn't be used for the rear that sees more abuse.

Just an fyi the rear besides being locked by air is also a limited slip. Some say the rear is weaker due to this fact.

The limited slip is small because it's it crammed into the same package as a small locker.

I have broken both the locker portion and later the LSD on the replacement. Both ends have since been replaced with ARBs.

The helical gears in the rear LSD will all eventually break apart from normal use. And faster the more it gets used as an LSD, like powering through turns on pavement.

ARB rd117 if he is going to move the existing thick cut gears to the new locker.

If the ring and pinion are a brand new setup, then the rd116 with standard cut gears can be used instead.
