I have a 2001 Jeep Wrangler sport, recently vandalized, and the SKIM Module antenna is broken. Typical behavior now (engine shuts off after 3 seconds, sentry monitor light comes on, and I receive a P1685 code when I display errors).

Trying to avoid towing my jeep to the dealer. My question is can I unplug the broken SKIM, take it to the dealer with my VIN/Keys and have the new SKIM somehow programmed with my keys, and install it myself? Reading some older manuals states this:

If the SKIM receives an RF signal with
valid “Secret Key” and transponder identification
codes, the SKIM sends a “valid key” message to the
PCM over the CCD data bus. If the SKIM receives
an invalid RF signal or no response, it sends “invalid
key” messages to the PCM. The PCM will enable or
disable engine operation based upon the status of the
SKIM messages.

Seems that the PCM just needs a valid message, not any programmed pins or secret keys. Can the dealer find this "pin" from a VIN #, broken SKIM, Keys, or is it indeed stored on the PCM and I have to bring in the Jeep (or maybe just bring the PCM):?

Thanks in advance.

@mrblaine will know for sure, so I'm going to tag him in this, as I'm not 100% sure if you can do that or not.

No, the new SKIM will need to be paired to the PCM. If the PCM, ignition lock cylinder, new SKIM module, and keys were installed in a year range compatible vehicle it could be done, but not the SKIM module by itself in anything.
