Hmm, I think it was one of the trifecta of criticism on this forum that I saw a post applauding the Rubicon rails... to my dismay I don't really care enough to look it up to have you swallow that. (I think it was Jerry... not sure)

Hmm, value... lets spend $xxx replacing the part that Jeep engineers put there for protection... With the knowledge that you claim to have, you should do good to reboot your mannerisms and learn to productively explain your views, instead of "GET OFF MY LAWN!!!"

For what it's worth, I supplied parts to FCA to be sold as "Mopar" parts for the JL/JT in a past life. They weren't even close the best solution, but they were the cheapest that looked good. I will never trust an OEM part to be as good or better than an aftermarket part simply because it was made by the OEM.

Sadly, that's not the case anymore. For the JT/JL to purchase the mopar steel bumper is over $800, and then you need to add close to that to get the winch mount. The stock Rubicon rock sliders would be close to $1600 to equip both the cab, and the bed. They do look the best, and the fit is fantastic.

I was never fond of the stock TJ Rubicon sliders.. I just don't like diamond plate.

Nobody is saying expensive is better. Everyone is saying that what came with the vehicle isn't necessarily a great representation of a product that solves a problem that other products solve better. You can probably make sliders yourself that are sturdy all the way for under $100. You just have to know what problems to fix.

If people understood that some people bash their Jeeps on rocks and need well designed sliders these threads would be a lot shorter and the horse would still be alive. Everybody who drives on the beach doesn't understand why PS sliders are bad and everyone who hits JV on the weekends doesn't understand why anybody would want sliders with an inferior design.

Doesn't mean they are worth it to add on for the new price. I got take-offs for $100 for the body only. I have other plans for bed.

This has all been well hashed out in the rock rail thread. I've gone over each aspect of how they function, how to make that work as good as you possibly can and backed that up with the logic well explained so that anyone who wants to make a set of rails can pick and choose which aspects they desire for what they do.

At no point was it a "go buy this or you are a fucktard". It was not and never will be me picking on anyone's rock rails UNTIL they recommend something with a glaring deficiency for use as an actual rock rail.

Everything I ever say about rock rails is always qualified with the caveat "if you need them to function as a rock rail" then I can teach you how to accomplish that. The rules are basic, simple and well explained in the rock rail thread.

I will say that I wish I could make rails for 100 per side. That would be awesome.

It sure as fuck was not me. You also must have missed what I also said just above. As below...

... I've never considered what comes on a Rubicon to be anything much more than decoration to give it a tougher look. No one I know would consider it strong enough for anything more than a very mild impact.

What Mopar buys it for vs what they sell it for are completely different stories. Look at their led light mounts. That was one of the parts we supplied. Everything about it sucks but they were less than $8/pair after our markup and they sell for $40 or something crazy like that thru Mopar.
