Time for a v8 swap

Now that the case is finally up after having to reclock the studs. Onwards to the y-pipe we go.

I started assembling the shifter last night and it seems to be just might luck that im missing atleast 1 of the round headed Allen bolts for the pivot bar bracket, at this point im just going to roll with it and source some from the depot. I think I might look into an xj shifter setup as I think that might have an extra gear that would work with the 6L80e.

Aren't they the same as a 03 or newer TJ shifter?

You should have 6 detents? The 6L80e is a 6 speed? Or is it more like the 8HP trans where it's all electronic?

Kilduff makes a nice looking shifter for the 6L80

That's cool that they make an adapter for the stock shifter to control the 6L80.
Kilduff makes some nice shifters.
I just got mine for the 8HP70 transmission. It does take about 2 months to receive it once you order it.

I've got the Park lockout for going from Drive to Reverse quickly.
It's a quality part for sure.

I found some 6mm bolts that appeared to have worked but the head of the bolt hits the body. Im debating on just dremeling the area the head of the bolts rest and calling it a day. The shift cables and brackets for them on the transfer case side seem interesting as they are directly under the shifter assembly.

I was finally able to mess around with the linkages. It was quiet fun reading the instructions while being a visual learner but its pretty common sense stuff. I did have some trouble with the left shift stick but I had to spin the yokes.

AA does such a great job with their shifters.

STaK's came out with a few different versions over the years but so far I'll say the cable shifters I have on it now seem to work better.

This was the original version for the TJ.

This was version #2 that was better but still wasn't perfect.

Im sure glad I have the cable version because all that would have made me want to throw the whole thing away. I will say it does feel nice and tight throughly happy so far. I. Going to try and get the stock shifter setup to work next along with the y-pipe i still haven't started yet.

I hated trying to adjust the first shifter and bent one of the shifter rails even.

The second setup worked better.

I now have a NWF (Northwest Fab) out of Canada cable shifter on it now. So far I think it shifts better than the mechanical shifter.

We had another snow storm so I picked up some 100% argon to start practicing tig welding. I have a feeling this is going to be alot more challenging than stick and mig. I bought some blue devil ER-706-S rods , I think the only thing left to get is the electrode for the tig torch il have research if that matters for steel and stainless steel. I plan to practice on the 3in pipe i ordered which is too large for the y-pipe so hopefully after a few times il future tig welding out
