What did you do to your TJ today?

They look great. They are no neoprene right?
No, they're tweed. Looks & feels like a heavyweight canvas. It's gotta be super durable. Time will tell.

So now to vent a little bit,
When I bought my jeep I had it inspected by a jeep dealership, as I was going to have it shipped. All they were able to find was dry rotted control arm bushings and a leaking rear differential.

I have found a bad passenger hub, the control arm bushings were fine. There was only 1 bolt holding on the hard top. Along with a bunch of misc issues.
There is even a tic in the engine I am trying to track down

If the dealership can't find this stuff, who can you trust

Received my flow-matched upgraded injectors from Injector-Rehab
79233
so then cleaned out the injector bores in the manifold and installed all new plugs
79234
Moved the ground strap from the middle of the head to the back and put a super high-tech anti-chafe device on the rear head stud (piece of hose). Thanks @Jerry Bransford for the heads-up on that one!
79235

Also reinstalled the rear diff cover, put a new bolt in the driver's seat where the one was missing, replaced about two feet of brittle and cracking plastic vacuum line and (as mentioned earlier today) ordered some Currie lower arms. Four more days to get everything done!!

Like the anti-chafe, I'll add some of that to mine!

Installed 1/2" stack of washers under the back of my drivers seat mount. Big difference for me, Its way more comfortable. However I like my seat back more straight up than most and the bottom pretty much flat.

I really want to put a roll cage in mine, the windshield supports are incredibly flimsy, I am surprised they came out that way from the factory.
Like some kind of race approved full cage?
Or one of those show cages using the OEM cage & adding additional sections.

By your definition I guess it would be a show cage. There is a poison spyder roll cage just a few blocks from me for $900, but I just cant swing that right now. Anything would help and be better than the plastic bar between the A and B pillars.

Yea, I imagine I'll be doing something similar too.

I had this happen to me on a couple vehicles. If it was local I'd say look to small claims court. I spoke to one last time this happened and he advised small claims court. As the item listed ok was not ok.

But having it shipped from a different jurisdiction is hard to follow up on. I always have my new to me cars inspected at the appropriate dealership too. Next time I'm going to make my own list. And make them check off everything as checked and working or not working.

I've had the same problem using a private mechanic too. SO I'm not sure what the solution is. I think next time I'm going to pay for a compression check too. I think you just have to expect that they aren't going to find everything. But I'd make them concentrate on rust, engine, transmission and then go from there. Those are the big ticket items. I got lucky this last time. My transmission wouldn't stay in 2nd gear. Luckily I found out it was just the TV cable.

And be sure you can trust whomever is looking after it now mechanically. Most repair shops are scams these days. I'm sorry to say. Try to find someone knowledgeable in Jeeps. Sorry you had this happen. I spent two months worrying my mind away about a transmission I thought I needed to replace. It was a nightmare.
