Correct, no 3rd brake light. It's not required in WA, but it is in some other states. Sounds like you have a good solution with the yellow wire.

If you can avoid the loom and use the stock contact connector I think it will look cleaner.

Yeah but I am already using the two contacts for the ground and positive side of the brake light. I would only put the loom on the yellow wire that I added. It would be a short piece just to try and keep the wire from getting pinched.

So you don't have a third brake light anymore?
These license plate holders have 2 lights one for the third brake light and one to illuminate the plate.
I wanted both to still work properly. So I am still using those stock connectors, the yellow wire I ran is for the other light.
I am trying to see if there is a better way to do it.

Not sure mine is much better way to do it, that's the biggest hurdle to get over.

I did pick up some gluetread sidewall patch. Haven't needed to try it yet so no experience, but it looks pretty good.

It would be cool if someone made a drop in replacement for the tailgate electrical connector that had four or five contacts to operate accessories.

Yeah seems like there should be something aftermarket at this point.

I saw somewhere may have been this forum, that they added the same little connectors/contacts and the plastic cover as what was in there. So when you open the tailgate there were 4 of those contacts and two of the black plastic covers looked pretty clean.
So I think if I ever make it to a pick and pull I may do the same thing.

Let's put our heads together--that's what this forum is so good at doing--solving problems that others are dealing with. Keep things going until we work this out! :)
