Tire advice

You've pretty much sold me on getting Duratracs when I can afford new tires - hopefully I'll be getting those with my tax refund. I'm just concerned about issues with balancing and the sidewalls from reading other reviews.

I never had a single issue with them being balanced at Discount Tire. They were always balanced perfectly!

Both ice cream and jeep trails. Daily driver and Colorado vacations. I bought this tj rubicon because of condition (50k mileage). The 4 inch rough country, adjustable track bars, double cordan shaft, 1 inch body lift, and 35 inch tires were already installed. We are seniors doing acrobatics to get in and out. I can feel every lug on those tires at low speed. The 35s cause transmission shift down on even a pimple if a hill. I know 33s are the way to go with the 4” suspension lift and probably get rid of the body spacers. I think that still leaves me with bad gearing with the 4.10 axles especially on te highway. I want to end up with a versatile jeep with adequate clearance for most colorado jeep roads and driving 1k miles to get there.

So looks like my choices are put on the 33x10.50s or change some components? to reduce the lift and run 31s.

I admire this. Ron, I have the solution for you. You should just sell me this beautiful machine of yours. Im available today, tomorrow, and the next. Let me know when you will be around tonight, ill just go and hook up my trailer now. See you in a few. Got cash. Im ready to buy. Thanks

33s are a good tire size for Colorado. You can lose an inch of spring lift. At that time, I would cycle the suspension without springs and determine what the bump stop requirements are. Then switch to a set of Rancho rs5000x. Between those and the right tire pressure, you will have a comfortable and capable Jeep.

Lol. I will sell you the Mastercraft 35s. 4 are like new and one is new. Me and this tj are joined at the hip.

My 35's ride better than my 33's did, and they ran better then the 31's did. So I ask again, what pressure are you running in those 35's???????

Can I loose that inch by simply changing the 4 coils?

X2. Tire pressure matters. More sidewall is more comfortable.

29-30 psi.

Looks like an 1.25" body lift. Measure to confirm. Leave it alone.

Your bump stops are not correctly extended. Your's have an extended jounce (the red thing) that isn't doing the job it is supposed to do.
Do I need the body lift with 33s?

Are some springs better than other? The spacer are 1.25. Would there normally be any spacer stock?
Springs are a highly debated topic. I don't believe they contribute much to the ride quality, so pick the one that gives the ride height you need.

There are other more specific considerations regarding overall travel, but I don't think that is a concern here.

Those look like 1.25" body lift pucks to me. Looks like the PO also replaced the factory jounce bumpers with longer ones. How well does the jeep shift into 4wd? Any binding? I'd suggest taking those jounce bumper out and getting factory ones, then bump down to 33's with a C load range tire. Personally, I'd lose the body lift too, but the BL can come in handy for other mods and also gives you access when working under the rig.
